With over 24 years of experience studying non-motorist travel behavior, I am a trusted resource for guiding policy, programs, and practice toward improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians. I have managed over 50 active transportation research and planning projects and am a recognized national expert on travel behavior and active modes of transportation (VRU, SS4A, AT Plans, Traffic Calm I regularly advise state DOTs and MPOs nationwide on evaluating transportation safety. Additionally, I have created integrated health and transportation planning initiatives in Utah, Nevada, California, Rhode Island, Texas, New York, etc.). I provide a unique perspective integrating behavioral psychology with planning/engineering. I earned a PhD in Geography from the University of California-Santa Barbara specializing in Transportation Methods, Models, and Computation (2008). My background as a behavioral scientist has allowed me to work extensively in travel behavior data analysis, travel survey development, and psychometrics, using my technical specialization in econometrics and multivariate modeling.
