Built partnerships between Young Voices on Climate Change and Pittsburgh environmental centers, science centers, schools, libraries and other institutions hosting Young Voices for the Planet Educator Training Workshops for the YVFP films and Civic Engagement Curriculum (see: www.youngvoicesfortheplanet.com). These workshops train educators to help youth develop self-efficacy – the belief in their ability to change the world- and to develop their own ACTION PLAN inspired by the youth in the YVFP films.

Baltimore, Maryland Area

As Organizing Representative for the Beyond Coal Campaign, I built grassroots power and strategic partnerships in communities most impacted by climate disruption and pollution from coal-burning power plants. I worked alongside community leaders to advocate for energy justice and a world free from fossil fuels.Key organizing accomplishments:👉🏻 Led a campaign that resulted in the shuttering of four coal-fired power plants across the state and commitments to stop burning coal at two others.👉🏻 Coordinated the Maryland Climate Coalition Grassroots Committee to successfully lobby for legislation expanding Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard.👉🏻 Helped environmental justice communities in Baltimore and Brandywine, MD tell their stories to win the approval of a policy enabling the replacement of coal-burning power with renewables in 9 states by 2030.👉🏻 Co-founded the Baltimore Peoples Climate Movement: a diverse coalition that mobilized 600 Baltimoreans to the 2017 Peoples Climate March, and used that momentum to advocate for local climate action.👉🏻 Led a diversity, equity, and inclusion coaching group with staff and volunteers supporting Sierra Club’s DEI commitment.

I supported young climate justice advocates in Pittsburgh and on college campuses throughout Western Pennsylvania by providing skills training, volunteer management, and leadership coaching. The young people I worked with built and ran campaigns that address climate change by demanding legitimate clean energy solutions instead of a continued dependence on destructive fossil fuels.My responsibilities included volunteer management, one-on-one leadership coaching, event planning, campaign development and long-term strategy planning, membership recruitment, coalition building, community outreach, supporting other national Sierra Student Coalition staff on various projects, and seeing to many other grassroots organizing tasks.I was also the local representative for a coalition of national environmental organizations coordinating the Power Shift 2013 Youth Climate Conference in Pittsburgh. I trained and mobilized over 500 youth climate justice advocates on campuses throughout Western PA to attend.
