We are each endowed with our own unique talents. Mine does not include re-inventing the wheel – I will leave that to Uber and their ilk. Nor does it include discovery of a cure for alopecia – not to give myself away, but I found a doctor who did just that. I was fortunate to discover my talents early enough in my life: accounting. Once discovered I sought to apply them to make this world, in some measure, a better place. But how to do this as a CPA? This is where my passion evolved: I could make this world better for my clients who entrust me with their financial well-being, many of whom have become just a step removed from family. One way I have expressed my passion is by immersing myself in studying and comprehending the many facets of the mortgage banking industry and the excessive compliance and reporting regime. In so doing, I have developed, along with my superb team, an unparalleled expertise among CPAs in the nation. I will leave it to others to tout my expertise, but just as a recent example: we received a referral for a MB which was 30 days away from losing its license to originate FHA loans because, as we have found time and time again, its audited financials were FHA deficient. With such a narrow time horizon, our team speedily and efficiently performed the work and, furthermore, due to our broad and deep understanding of the industry, uncovered unreported derivatives which increased equity and assisted the client in meeting its bank covenants and FHA-minimum net worth. Did we not make the world a bit better place for them? I am proud to be a leader and renowned expert in this space. I am so pleased and humbled that other CPAs as well as attorneys, warehouse lenders, investors, secondary-market industry professionals refer me because they perceive our firm as the go-to firm in this industry.
