Doctoral practicum experience providing neuropsychological and psychological assessments across the lifespan (Ages 5-65+) in a private practice setting. Working with a licensed psychologist who is in the process of becoming a board-certified neuropsychologist, I am learning to administer, interpret, and write integrated reports using a wide array of standardized assessments, screeners, behavioral observations, and clinical interviewing. Referral questions range from childhood/adult ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities, concussions, testing accommodations, worker’s compensation claims, and dementias. I will also be co-facilitating a social skills group therapy lasting several months for adolescents with social deficits and ASD. Working within a team to provide community-based services organizing care across medical, behavioral, and long-term services. I conducted emergency psychological assessments to develop care recommendations in office, emergency departments, and mobile settings with an emphasis on understanding and mitigating risks while working alongside medical professionals as a team. I engaged in individualized de-escalation techniques using quick response and a highly empathic communication style to ensure maintenance of patient and staff safety. I developed individualized care plan recommendations, safety plans, and provide brief psychological interventions for individuals and families to support symptom reduction while meeting their needs at an appropriate level of care. Clients ranged in age across the lifespan (Ages 5 to 90+), often with co-occurring mental health or medical diagnoses.

Doctoral practicum experience providing therapy and testing to adolescents and adults (Ages 13-65+). Formal training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and delivery of therapy using this modality under the supervision of a Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D.). Worked with adults and adolescents, conducting intakes and therapy using the ACT model to treat a wide range of diagnoses from major depressive disorder, generalized and social anxiety disorder, substance use disorder, OCD, and PTSD, to name a few. I also assisted with psychological testing for diagnostic clarification (using MMPI-2, PAI, MCMI, etc.) and independently conducted bariatric and spinal cord stimulator pre-surgical assessments (using MBMD and screeners).

Doctoral practicum experience working with children from kindergarten to 4th grade at Harrington Elementary School. Working under a doctoral-level school psychologist (Ph.D.), I independently conducted and wrote integrative reports of cognitive and personality testing (academic testing is done by special education in this district). Develop, oversee, and conduct Tier II and Tier III interventions for children with learning, social, and emotional challenges such as daily check-ins, token reward systems, one-on-one therapies, and group therapies. Additionally, I provided consultation to teachers and administration for at-risk children’s educational and social needs. Assessment experience and independent integrated report writing using the WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, NEPSY-II, projective measures (incomplete sentences, House-Tree-Person, and Person-In-The-Rain), and rating scales/screeners (BASC-3, ABAS-3, SRS-2, GARS-3, MASC-2, CDI-2, SSiS, Piers-Harris 3, BRIEF-2, and SCARED).

Using a specialized Army program for transitioning soldiers, I trained under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (Ph.D.) for over 700 hours. As part of the intensive, full-time internship, I observed and conducted co-therapy with children, adolescents, and families. Aiding in treatment planning and one-on-one weekly therapy of clients with ODD and ADHD, assisted in assessment scoring and preparation, conducted field work and behavior plan check-ins, and received training on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatments for depression, PTSD, and OCD. I observed testing done using the ADOS-2, WISC-V, WIPPSI-IV, EVT-3, and PPVT-4. I scored assessments and questionnaires such as the Vineland-3, BASC-3, Vanderbilt ADHD Scale, Brown ADD Scales, CARS-2, and the CES-DC. On occasion, I also observed intake and maintenance visits of a Licensed Pediatric Psychiatrist and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Katie’s Way, giving an extremely well-rounded look at other professionals’ styles and methods.
