Hi, My name is Sal Cardinale. I am a 26 years old from New Jersey who took a journey away from home to study in Maine. I currently reside in Hallowell, Maine. Being here on my own has allowed me to become a more mature and responsible adult and understand people and the community around me in a fuller way. There are many reasons why I love being here and look forward to what else I can do to enrich the lives of those around me before I graduate. I joined my student government two weeks after coming to the University of Maine at Augusta. I really wanted to be an integral part of the University. My first term I served as the Vice-President and worked alongside my president as we teamed up to face the challenges that the students faced. My second term I served as the student government BOT. Getting to meet so many people and understand all the hardships that they have had to endure through their lives, made me want to keep helping them and make their lives a little easier. That concern is the driving force that keeps me going. Along with the rest of my team of men and women in the student government office we organized forums where students would be able to voice themselves and see how we can be advocates of change for them to allow those students to have a more efficient and successful time at the University. In my final term of office I was elected by my peers to serve as the Student Government President. I look forward to the challenges that I will face and how I can better serve my peers and community.
