I am currently employed as a Chief Instructor at an outdoor recreation center in New Zealand. I am in charge of employee scheduling, as well as leading activities with school groups. I particularly enjoy leading our water activities: kayaking, paddle boarding and coasteering. I also lead activities that include high & low ropes, orienteering, archery, and zip line, as well as search and rescue.I was originally hired as an intern but was quickly promoted due to my experience. While it was a challenge to learn some of the new activities, through hard work and determination, I have mastered them. Starting in May I will be seeking employment in Austin, Texas. I am interested in a role that with either grow my experience in the outdoor industry or allow me to return to what I know and love – aquatics. Here's another interesting facet to my background: upon graduation from Texas Tech University, I completed a 2-month solo backpacking trip across Europe. This experience provided me with a great appreciation of global knowledge, cross-cultural influence, and a sense of empowerment. I navigated 13 countries, 25 cities, 9 languages, 5 currencies, and three major modes of transportation. How did I do this? I have phenomenal organizational skills and a strong sense of confidence in myself. The trip was a journey of self-discovery, but the naysayers challenged and motivated me, as well. The experience has encouraged me to apply for more challenging jobs that may be "out of my reach" because I am up to any opportunity that comes my way.
