Working for the university as Campus Supervisor and Principal Instructor. This role requires me to lead in an organisational capacity: budget planning, resourcing, recruitment, and staff training as well as all aspects of marketing and business development. This includes planning marketing events, managing social media platforms and working directly with local schools, colleges, youth groups and business in order to design, develop and deliver a range of outdoor activities which meet their needs. Safeguarding forms an integral aspect of my work and I act as a Safeguarding Lead and trainer of the staff team and throughout the university. Through my Principal Instructor role, I am also involved with the teaching of both the theory and practice of outdoor education with the university’s students, and delivering activities to a range of internal and external customers.I am also a Staff Mentor and Conflict Resolution Officer for the university as a whole.

A mobile youth service delivering a range of activity and training sessions in seeking to help young people between 5 and 24 years, who face multiple disadvantages. I was working with partners such as community police, schools, and social workers to deliver sessions around social justice, bullying, drug and alcohol abuse and personal safety.

Outdoor adventurous activities instructor, running sessions including climbing, shooting, archery, high ropes, zipwire, bushcraft, canoing/kayaking, raft building, SUP and team building challenges. Catering for groups that ranged from educational to recreational and included some residential. I was also responsible for the centre's social media presence and website.

Due to being made redundant I worked for myself. I completed IT contracts for various clients. These included Web design, network troubleshooting and administration, database administration, and teaching.

I was solely responsible for all internal IT requirements. Managing a team of five engineers, I had designed and built (and then administered) the company network, which spans Ireland, the UK, France and Canada comprising approximately 300 hosts. The network consists mostly of Windows 2003 and 2008 servers utilising Active Directory which I migrated from an NT domain. Some virtualisation was achieved by way of VMWare, however the majority of the servers were physical. Watchguard Firewalls were used to secure the network perimeter and an Inter-Office VPN. ‘Homeworking’ was also achieved for some staff members by way of personal mobile VPN’s. Cisco routers and 3Com switches provided the backbone utilising gigabit over fibre where possible. I designed, built and maintained the company intranet. I also designed and maintained the company’s web presence. All IT procedures and standards within the organisation were designed and implemented by me. These included: - AV, Email, Internet Access, Backups, FTP admin, Purchasing, Licensing, and Company Security (Firewall/IP Packet Filtering/RAS/Telephone Discretion). I was also the senior Oracle and MS-SQL DBA. My other role was to act as a technical consultant to our customers advising on network optimisation, storage standards, RDBMS, security etc. I met regularly with IT staff in many organisations, ranging from 300 to 100,000 employees, in order to maintain the high standards that were required. I also acted as IS Project Manager to some of our larger customers (Dell, IBM, Intel and The Irish Prison Service), liaising with them to ensure that our high profile software was implemented smoothly.
