Launched the anti-herpetic cold sore treatment "Roliton" featuring a novel roll-on applicator which gently lifts the skin tissues to allow greater permeability of the AI (Provisional Patent filed 2012).See www.roliton.com

Worked with a Virtual Chemistry Group comprised of 4 different CROs with FTE and FFS Teams, which ultimately resulted in the identification of a clinical candidate. Other responsibilities included patent and proposal writing/editing, synthetic problem-solving, and sourcing through a vast vendor network. Part of a 50% downsizing July 2023.

Created a Discovery Pipeline with over 20 molecules at various stages of advancement, from scratch. Managed multiple Chemistry and Biology CROs to advance projects and programs (20 FTE). Executed iterative circuits of novel bioactive compound design, synthesis, and SAR evaluation which produced a Phase 2, patented fungicide.

Experienced CRO management professional. Interactively led several CRO FTE teams of chemists serving a major pharmaceutical client in the US. Responsibilities included communication with the client (Point of Contact), route design, problem solving, project management, and education of chemists. Teams achieved overall measurable increases in productivity under my directorship as judged by compound delivery and reactions run/hc/mo, and cycle time. Also served as the Scientific Problem Solving Lead for all of Oncology (200 chemists) for this same company. Directed The Problem-Solving Group of 20 experienced chemists charged with solving the most difficult and complex chemistry WuXi faces.

Taught beginning and Intermediate organic chemistry laboratory courses.

Lead scientist in procuring Contract Synthesis opportunities as well as synthesizing and delivering final targets. Projects have ranged from natural product isolation and characterization to synthesis of pharmaceutical AIs. Co-Inventor of a “Novel Greener Method” for producing the artificial sweetener sucralose (see Press Release, 2 patents). Helped solve the complex problem of why sugars do not fully chlorinate via synthesis and identification of all potential isomers and intermediates along the pathway. Carried out reactions on mg scale and eventually scaled up and demonstrated utility in a 50 L reactor with the next step being building the first US plant based on this technology.
