Conduct Statistical Analysis on potential prospects to ascertain production zones as well as chance of success.Cleaned, organized and managed the head office petrophysical data lake, converting some sections to a data warehouse.Combine logging data from multiple downhole sensors with core and sample data to determine the hydrocarbon production capacity, lithology and fluid saturation of a reservoir. Plan and supervise Petrophysical data acquisition and analysis.Perform Petrophysical interpretation and correlation of wells.Utilise latest Petrophysical software packages (TECHLOG).Conduct G & G reservoir description and characterization predictions.Conducted studies and generated algorithms to improve the petrophysical analysis methodology to evaluate logs (Pay, Phi, Sw interpretation). Working on a deep HP/HT exploratory project in a frontier basin.Roles and Responsibilities:Involved with creating a geoscientific report for an exploratory drilling project and providing detailed seismic and geological prognosis as well as volume estimations for a wildcat reservoir interval.Skills and Knowledge applied in role:Conducted big data analytics workflow including uncertainty analysis for resource assessment of an exploratory asset.This project has utilized my integrated geoscience and datascience knowledge and expertise withthorough research on petroleum systems using nearby analog fields and basins. The work involved practical workflows incorporating Geophysical, Petrophysical and Geological interpretation and analysis on Petrel 3D Modeling Software.

The internship involved understanding basic job aspects of geoscientists working within an unconventional reservoir. Responsibilities included cleaning and sorting multidisciplinary unstructured data to incorporate in a predictive 3D model.Roles and Responsibilities:The main role in the internship was to understand and experience the different work requirements, methodology and challenges faced by the geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists and geo-modellers working for the development of deep Jurassic unconventional fractured and tight carbonate reservoirs in several oil-fields of North Kuwait. Assisted geophysicists, geologists, petrophysicists and geo-modellers in their active workflows achieving a high level understanding of multidisciplinary data, teamwork and technical work practices. Skills and Knowledge applied in role:The knowledge applied was acquired during the B.Sc. from exploration geology and research project on The Geology of Kuwait. The contribution was further enhanced by preparing the petroleum related geophysics and petrophysics basics in advance which helped to capture the concepts and workflows easily thus permitting more time for hands-on work with the team.The technical skills applied were the use of geological mapping and modeling softwarePetrel and DecisionSpace Desktop besides Microsoft office suite especially Excel. The non-technical skills applied were interpersonal communication and multidisciplinary teamwork, as well as documentation and detailed presentations.

Roles and Responsibilities:The internship included practical training to conduct predictive analysis on real time data to make geosteering and well placement decisions in directional drilling. It involved Well Placement and Geosteering of a KOC’s horizontal well, embedded in the Schlumberger-Anadrill’s Well Placement Team. During the horizontal section, the responsibilities involved downloading and maintaining drilling data to monitor the progress while participating in daily reviews. Further, participation was undertaken in daily reviews of well progress for recommending deviation angle to keep the well on target layer while learning geosteering using Gas While Drilling data that was shared by the Kuwait Oil Company geologists.Skills and Knowledge applied in role:Schlumberger’s internship involved learning new subjects such as the fundamentals of drilling, mud logging and Petrophysics. This helped in understanding the technical aspects of well placement as well as LWD/ MWD technologies for geosteering horizontal wells. It provided first hand exposure to 3D geological modeling, well planning and real-time data browsing/ downloading for monitoring the ongoing drilling. Teamwork and communication in a ‘client-service provider environment’ were other valuable skills applied during the internship.

Routine Core Analysis Internship ProgramRoles and Responsibilities:The CoreLab internship was a 3 week familiarization and training program on Coring, Core Description and Rock Typing. It involved on-the-job training on core handling such as core-to-log depth shift estimation, core preservation, labeling, slabbing, plugging, solvent cleaning & drying as well as routine core analysis which included Spectral Gamma Logging, and measurement of plugs’ grain density, helium porosity, and permeability via Core Measurement System. The core description was performed on the Burgan sandstone and South Ratqa heavy oil unconsolidated core along with KOC asset geologists. Rock typing was performed on Zubair sandstone and oolite carbonate samples collected from beach outcrops (modern day analogue of prolific Minagish Oolite reservoirs of Kuwait).Skills and Knowledge applied in role:The knowledge of sedimentology, petrography, mineralogy, stratigraphy as well as geostatistics acquired during the graduation was applied during the internship. Further, interpersonal communication, team-working and organisational skills proved very useful during the internship. However, several valuable skills learnt included meticulous data recording and quantitative analysis in understanding petrophysical characteristics of the rocks.Internship rock typing research led to publishing an internal company journal article (KOC) and linking it to the Worldwide Rock Catalogue.
