About Susanne Schjørring

Since July 2024 Head of Laboratory of Gastrointestinal Bacteria at SSI. 2016-2024: I have been responsible for the national surveillance of Shigatoxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) and Listeria monocytogenes using whole genome sequencing (WGS) derived data working in the section of Foodborne infections at Statens Serum Institut. I am the Public Health Microbiologist expert in the national outbreak team collaborating with the Epidemiologists and Food and Veterinary experts. I also coordinated the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) funded External Quality Assessment (EQA) programs of molecular typing of Salmonella, STEC and Listeria. My background is a Ph.D degree within Transfer of Antimicrobial resistance (2008) and the fellowship as a European Public Health Microbiologist (EUPHEM) (2016).
