About Travis Schlitter
On the good days, ideas flow from the mind like words from the mouth of Big Sean. On other days, a good idea comes as easy as a blindfolded half-court shot. How are those good days different? These types of questions about creativity keep Travis Schlitter up at night. Travis is the owner and creative director of Awe-Full, a motion design and marketing agency based in Kansas City. Awe-Full partners with agencies and brands to develop award-winning content for brands big and small. Awe-Full launched in 2015 when Travis stepped away from a creative leadership position at Hint. Formerly Take-Two Productions, Hint creates all levels of digital content and experiences. Managing a group of talented creatives, Travis pushed the boundaries of interaction between digital and physical spaces and gained recognition for work on brands like Puma and LinkedIn.Creativity was a part of growing up for Schlitter. From sketching futuristic aircraft and telling elaborate science fiction stories with his father, directing skate videos, and drawing cartoons with his three younger brothers, artistic inspiration was rampant. Despite this background, his path to design was as straight as Elton John. Aviation, architecture, audio engineering, and even psychology had his full attention before discovering his graphic design passion. However, since that first university course on design, Travis has focused on little else. After receiving a master's degree, Schlitter chose the professional path over teaching and went to work for BARKLEY. His six-plus years at this large independent advertising agency set the foundation of experiences and relationships he would carry over to Hint and, eventually, his own business. Despite specializing in motion design, animation, and visual effects, Travis has also worked as a director, editor, writer, and creative strategist. And whether working in traditional graphic design mediums or immersive virtual reality experiences, he strives to produce meaningful content that tells a story. After all, the story's weird power is another unique human phenomenon that keeps Travis up at night and asking questions.
Listed skills include Motion Graphics, Art Direction, Creative Direction, Graphic Design, and 20 others.

Owner/Creative Director
CurrentAwe-Full is a creative studio that leverages design, art, and technology to create story-focused content and experiences that power businesses and brands. I serve as the creative director and, as the owner, manage all the operations and new business efforts. I leverage my years of experience in motion design and advertising to inspire a small team of creatives. We focus on storytelling and design thinking to develop award-winning content.
Assistant Professor Of Motion Design
I have always aspired a return to teaching, and a tenure-track position in motion graphics at Fort Hays State University was a perfect opportunity. Despite the covid surprise, it was everything I dreamed of. I was free to develop an entirely new motion design program. And I received the holistic reward of daily teaching. I was even fond of the additional research, community engagement, and student advisement work the job required. Unfortunately, the complicated logistics of a long weekly commute and a desire to build my business won out. After three years, I had to pass the reigns to a promising graduate student and move on.
Creative Director
In late 2013 T2 officially began doing business under the name Hint. Hint is a creative content and experience design shop. The rebrand was more than a name change, as Hint evolved to focus on story building. As a Creative Director, I lead the creative efforts on all content creation, digital development, and experience design. During this transition, I also accepted a promotion to a VP leadership role.
Creative Director
Take-Two has been a force in the post-production world for over 20 years, mostly due to its excellence in design. I was humbled to have the opportunity to help continue that legacy as Creative Director for the motion design and animation team. At T2, I lead a killer team of designers and animators in creating award-winning work for agencies and companies nationwide. Here I discovered the true power and centrality of the story. As a director, you must be a master storyteller and always see the vision through the thousands of moving parts and ideas that compose a piece.
Motion Graphics Director
Barkley is the largest employee-owned advertising agency in the United States and one of the largest independent agencies. That independence has bread an innovative and unique culture I was happy to be part of for over six years. Ahead of the curve, Barkley began bringing in-house production services, like motion design. I came to Barkley looking for a traditional art director-type role, but when the opportunity to help build this motion design group presented itself, I couldn't pass. During my time at Barkley, I helped develop all types of creative work for all sorts of brands, including Sonic Drive-Ins, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Blue Bunny Ice Cream, 24 Hour Fitness, Big O Tires, March of Dimes, and Lee Jeans.
Instructor Of Art
Immediately after finishing graduate school, I stepped in for the head design instructor while he took a well-earned sabbatical. I had completed some graduate teaching assistant work previously, but taking on the entire course load of a professor was an immense challenge. I was honored at the opportunity, and the semester flew by with a lot of help from another professor. This experience cemented the joy of teaching. During the semester, I instructed five courses, from beginning design to senior-level portfolio classes, that covered: concept, identity design, packaging, typography, motion graphics, and web design. The appointment also involved advising students, recruiting, and designing work for the art department.
