I provided training services in the area of Risk management, with a very strong focus of AML / KYC in the non-banking sector. While training was the first line of approach, I provided a full range of services including regulatory compliance reviews, operational improvement, recruiting, training and follow-up in the AML / KYC context, and in the much broader scope of Governance, Risk Management and Compliance.

Conception, specification, design and marketing of a qualitative operational risk management tool, addressing risk assessment, controls assessment, risk mapping, daily control checks etc.... This was probably one of the first "simple" tools that did pragmatically implement the GRC concept.

Finance director, then general manager of the legal entity managing all invoicing of all European auction activities of eBay (the commissions paid by the vendors when they sell on eBay). My job was to start the company from scratch and to transform it into a smoothly running office

Acting as general manager of this startup, it was my job to start the company from scratch (find offices, recruiting, policies, governance etc). My primary function was to set up a structure that would help Luxembourg fund management company directors to perform their duties according to the law. We did provide both physical facilities as preparatory work via a team of risk management specialists that I was managing.

Starting as a financial auditor, I quickly transferred over to computer audit and security within the firm; in 1996 I moved to Luxembourg where my role was to develop the work as I had done it in Belgium (audit support in computer reviews, security analysis etc). In that context, we did build up a team that comprised at it's peak approx. 30 staff. I also specialized in internal control and internal audit, which were services we provided. From there, quite naturally, I gained interest in risk management and more particularly in qualitative operational risk management. I performed many internal control reviews, risk and control self assessments, risk mappings etc. This led me to develop a risk software to assist this kind of assignments.
