About Matthew N. Schneider

Matt Schneider most recently served as Chief Product Officer at Sunfolding. Over his 7-year tenure, Sunfolding raised Series A and B investments (~$150M), was named a top solar product in 2019, top climate-tech startup in 2021, and grew sales 8X, 4X, and 7X in successive years.Matt was responsible for end-to-end product and business strategy. His teams developed Sunfolding products from concept through production, and their responsibilities included product management, program management, product development, product reliability, supply chain, operations, project deployment, and customer service. Previous to Sunfolding, Matt cofounded RayTracker, Inc. (2008). He and his co-founders grew RayTracker from $0 to $15M in revenue in 22 months, which resulted in the company's acquisition by First Solar Inc., the world’s largest solar company (2010).The acquisition of RayTracker was broadly recognized as one of the most successful acquisition events for a VC-backed company in solar, delivering a 12.5X return to investors (http://bit.ly/KKdVB7).After the acquisition, Matt served as the Director of Global Product Development for PV structures. His product roadmap resulted in a 66% reduction in total installed product cost, an Independent Engineering assessment of the “most bankable tracker in the industry,” and several of the largest solar tracking sites in operation (SEIA/GTM 2017). These successes restored First Solar’s competitiveness amid falling module prices and a “low-efficiency BOS penalty.” Overall, the RayTracker product family enabled more than $4.5B (~3 GW) in new First Solar contracts, with over $600M of RayTracker products deployed globally.Matt has also spent time at Microsoft and NASA and has degrees from St. Olaf College and Stanford University.

Listed skills include Solar Energy, Product Development, Photovoltaics, Start Ups, and 42 others.
