About S. Christopher Hellriegel
Hello. My name is Chris, and I'm a Senior Software Architect in R&D at KB Signaling. I'm passionate about the whole software development process. I enjoy meeting with and helping customers figure out and understand the business problems they are wrestling with. I then work out a set of use cases that describe the problem as well as requirements that define what a potential solution needs to be. I can then lead an engineering effort to design, develop, test, and deploy a technical/software solution to solve the customer's problem.I'm an advocate for doing a thorough job from beginning to end. I'm not one to hide or ignore problems. I'm serious about root cause analysis in order to find the true cause of an issue. I'm also a big proponent of laying down a solid software development process and testing early and often. I use automation when and where I can in order to reduce errors and boost productivity (unit testing, one-click software builds, one-click deployments, etc...).I heavily use automated unit testing with code coverage analysis in order to find and resolve bugs as quickly and as efficiently as possible. I've also helped setup and use automated integration testing to rigorously test software on a system level for functional sell-off.I have experience in the whole development process, from inception all the way to multiple deliveries. I've worked with fairly large code bases (300k to 500k lines). I have personally executed formal software sell-offs with customer witnesses present. I've worked on teams and worked independently. I most enjoy working on teams that believe in the vision and mission and want to do an awesome job. I also enjoy helping to define the software development process to enable a team to succeed.Lastly, I'm a big proponent of education and developing strong skills. I try to mentor/educate others on the team with new technologies, tools, programming languages, new paradigms of working, and performing demos to help show something new or a way to do an existing task better.
Listed skills include Software Development, C#, Linux, Unit Testing, and 18 others.
