Taylor is a 4th year student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He added computer science after completing his second year, after developing a strong interest in the field and heavily enjoys low-level programming of microprocessors and operating systems. With that, his computer science background brings versatility to any workplace, and a knowledge of the languages that run systems is highly beneficial in electrical engineering.He has completed 2 co-op terms (8 months) as an electrical engineer in the research and development department at Broan NuTone. It is here that he learned about communication interfaces such as I2C, how to implement sensors (IR, humidity, particulate), and worked with international project teams from areas such as Canada, Mexico, and China. He also has manufacturing experience through his work at both Broan, and MBW, a compaction and concrete construction equipment company.Taylor is currently a co-op at Extreme Engineering Solutions, using VHDL to program FPGAs and developing IPs for new hardware and test routines for existing hardware. He works heavily with communication protocols like AXI, SPI (single, dual, quad), and I2C, on boards with FPGAs, processors, and multiple memory banks.During his time at Broan, two more co-ops were taken on that he trained on all of the responsibilities he attained while he was there. Taylor trained them on items from project and daily tasks, to how to conduct and lead meetings with other team members and members of other departments. It was his responsibility to make sure these co-ops could function as efficiently and as well as he had before his term was over. Along with that he balanced a multitude of projects like an RGB lighting system, automated range hood, real-time CFM calculation, and more.
