I was involved in the development of a web-based system for the secure delivery of information over the Internet called HyperSend. I was mainly responsible for the agent, a thin client program written in Visual C++. Its architecture included technologies such as COM, WinInet, an ActiveX control for IE, a Netscape plug-in, data compression, encryption, and multi-threading. I also did web development (Linux, Zope, MySQL, Python, Java) as well as a new Hypersend product developed in Java that incorporated support for digital certificates. Last, I assisted in the maintenance and enhancements of HyperTerminal, the communications application that Hilgraeve provides to Microsoft for inclusion of every copy of Windows including the enhancements and fixes for Windows XP.

My responsibilities included aiding in the design and implementation of an electronic program guide for a cable "set-top box" and "head end" software. The code was written in C. Another client I designed and implemented a pain management system for them. It was a proof of concept project and it included a palm pilot application written in C++ and a conduit dll written Visual C++.

Responsibilities included; Visual Basic programming for the dial up to, reading and collection of data from an embedded energy management system and system administration duties. Object-oriented development of a Natural Gas Retail System. This system was a 3 tier architecture system that used Oracle running on AIX, a Visual C++ middleware layer based on the COM / OLE technology and DBTools for database (Oracle) access and Visual Basic for the front end. I also used Rational Rose (UML), Perl, and InstallShield. I also wrote all the scripts to manage the build process in Perl. For another department I supported an on-line, real-time, natural gas trading system This system utilized an Oracle database. I wrote programs in UNIX shell scripts, C, Pro *C, Pro *COBOL/2, PowerBuilder, Sybase, SQL, and PL/SQL (stored procedures and stored packages). Last I was responsible also for data conversions as well as application conversions when migrating from Mainframe and DG/UX to Solaris.
