Mack Trucks is a well known and celebrated American truck-manufacturer that has deep historical and cultural roots in the United States. Since 2001, Mack Trucks has been a part of the Volvo Group, one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment, and drive systems for marine and industrial applications. As part of Volvo Group, Mack Trucks houses the North American Volvo Group Trucks Sales (GTS) organization, which has regional responsibility for sales and marketing activities, as well as product planning. My internship/co-op is with the Brand and Product Management team, which oversees and approves projects dealing with product offerings.Responsibilities & Accomplishments:- Developing and maintaining a system for logging sensitive information on projects, including financial data, risk assessment, and project planning. Much of the data is represented temporally, allowing the management team to track the development of each project over time.- Rolled out a vehicle management system, developed as part of the internship at Volvo GTT (see below), to multiple sites. The system logs and maintains mileage data between sites for tax reporting purposes.- Accessing and querying a mainframe to pull vehicle data for project purposes.- Providing technical support for projects as needed.- Continuing to support solutions developed as part of Volvo GTT.- Providing assistance to other software development focused interns/co-ops within Volvo Group.

Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) is a Volvo Group division that focuses on product planning, product design, technology research, and engine development. Within this division is the Features, Verification, and Validation (FVV) group which is responsible for verifying components, modules, and systems. My internship was with the FVV project management (PMO) group, which oversees FVV's operations across all active research and development projects.Responsibilities:- Creating Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros to automate complex tasks within Excel.- Creating macros to extract data from multiple Project files to Excel.- Designing and maintaining a SharePoint page for the FVV group.- Designing and implementing systems to handle business critical functions.- Identifying ways to eliminate paperwork by automating existing processes.Accomplishments:- Designed and implemented a system for distributing and logging time record logs for commercial driver's license (CDL) holders.- Designed and implemented a system for logging and maintaining vehicle mileage logs, fuel purchases, and maintenance records.
