I am currently at Producer at On the Media, an award-winning weekly radio show out of WNYC Studios. Every week we explore how the media shape our reality with a mix of in-depth interviews and reported pieces. My responsibilities include reporting pieces, booking guests, editing audio, and managing our associate producers. OTM can be heard weekly on more than 400 stations and has a biweekly podcast. It has won the Edward R. Murrow Awards for feature reporting and investigative reporting, the National Press Club's Arthur Rowse Award for Press Criticism, it is the only back-to-back winner of the Bart Richards award for media criticism, it is the winner of several Mirror Awards, and it has a Peabody Award for its body of work.

I was selected to the 2021-22 cohort of the Alfa Fellowship Program, an intercultural exchange opportunity, it has enabled fellows to gain professional development experience in Russia since 2004. I was one of 15 fellows were selected from Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States in a competitive process. I was selected for a work placement at the Moscow Times; however, the program was cut short due to the geopolitical situation in the region.

Every week we feature a big stories that range from Mother Jones investigations to interviews with our reporters about the latest news. I'm responsible for writing scripts, booking guests, pre-interviewing, producing interviews, cutting tape, scoring, pitching episode ideas, and reporting the occasional segment. I also report long-form features and blog posts for the website.

I manage a library media studio at METRO’s 599 space. What's a library media studio, you ask? Well, I don't know much about other people's, but ours is a space where librarians / archivists / anyone can come in and use a variety of the new and legacy media that we encounter in knowledge management work. Right now, our Studio includes an audio recording booth, an imaging and digitization station, an AV media transfer rack, a digital forensics station, and a vinyl cutter. As the Studio Manager, I am responsible for procuring equipment, creating documentation, managing studio bookings, and planning education and programming. I am also the Principal Investigator for a $142K Mellon-funded project called "Preserve This Podcast" and the host and producer of METRO's podcast, Library Bytegeist

As one of three fellows in METRO's inaugural cohort I am designing a Media Studio in METRO's new office space at 599 11th Avenue. This project involves reaching out to member institutions to determined their multimedia needs, procuring audio, video, and graphics media equipment, designing the layout of the studio space, and organizing trainings to teach people how to use the media technologies. As part of my fellowship I am producing and hosting Library Bytegeist, a podcast about the libraries and archives of New York City.

MyData is a technical and legal framework that helps put individuals in the center of their personal data ecosystem in a way that facilitates data access, sharing, linking, and repurposing without comprising rights to privacy. I am currently enrolled as a PhD candidate in Media and Communications at Malmö University, although I am taking a leave of absence to participate in the METRO fellowship. My PhD research focuses on how the intangible process of digital data transfer is represented by words and diagrams, which in turn shape the technologies that facilitate data transfer. As my source materials I am studying the MyData project in Finland and science fiction literature.

I research, write, and speak about open data, government transparency, Internet governance, and the politics of information.

I am working on an independent research project in Helsinki, Finland as an affiliated scholar at the Aalto University of Art, Design and Architecture’s Media Lab and the National Library of Finland.- Conduct surveys and user-experience testing to evaluate how target audiences outside of Finland use the National Library’s web access portal, Finna (finna.fi)- Map Finna’s role in the larger open knowledge ecosystem by analyzing data from a Europe-wide benchmark survey- Participate in graduate courses and research seminars at the Media Lab- Plan events and conduct outreach for the Open Knowledge Foundation’s Finland branch that works specifically with libraries, archives, and museums- Lead regular discussions with classes of 25-200+ Finnish students from the elementary to university level about education in the United States to facilitate cultural exchange

As a member of the Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) Office of Analytics team, I evaluate the resonance, impact, and influence of State Department public diplomacy overseas. - Foster data-driven decision making in public diplomacy campaigns- Perform social media analytics on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook data to measure engagement with target audiences- Research new tools for analytics and administration in order to increase intra-office collaboration and efficiency- Conduct outreach within the bureau to help other offices integrate analytics into their regular work processes- Manage the relationship with my contracting company, OBXTek

I conducted research for the Executive Director (Elliott Shore) of ARL's lecture and keynote presentations. Recent topics include the history of the universal library, the collection and application of library metrics, instituting change in libraries and the significance of the Internet.

As a UX Intern at a mobile enterprise management tech startup, I am spearheading information architecture, content management and content curation initiatives that help the company improve its product and internal workflow. Particular areas of focus include collaborative design, information sharing and crowdsourcing.

As the Research Associate on the Digital Inclusion Survey, I prepare issue briefs, develop survey questions, manage communications with the Advisory Committee, and implement a survey to 7000+ public libraries

As an intern for the First Fridays program in the Center for Excellence in Digital Government, I assist with usability testing for federal government websites, conduct expert evaluations of websites, create tools to educate federal government agencies about the importance of usability testing and how to implement it, and conduct research about current topics in user experience.

For my archives field study I am providing reference services and updating the Encoded Archival Description of the Rubinov Collection in the European Division of the Library of Congress.
