This position cultivates and maintains partnerships with the student body and the faculty/staff to create and support programs to retain underrepresented populations in the STEM fields. The goal is to utilize and connect the networks inside and outside WWU to best serve these populations.● Proposed the creation of this half-time position to support and retain underrepresented faculty and students in CSE.● Developed and currently manage a program to support and guide a cohort of faculty doing equity, inclusion & diversity (EID) work.● Manage and/or advise on several EID programs across the college● Principal Investigator or Team Member on the following funded programs from $50K – $1M○ HHMI “Inclusion and Social Mindfulness in STEM: Evaluating the workshops”○ NSF S-STEM Program – “Preparing Students for Careers in Computer Science and Math”○ HHMI Inclusive Excellence Grant● Advise & Research best equitable practices for hiring, education, and mentoring.● Faculty Advisor for WWU SACNAS, Out in Science and Physicists for Inclusion in Science.

Spark Science is a multimedia program & podcast featuring interviews of STEM professionals. Our tagline is “Sharing Stories of Human Curiosity” with a goal to make science approachable, entertaining and accessible.• Produce 15-20 episodes per year (5 yrs) • Interview scientists and professionals on camera and audio (100+ interviews)• Write scripts & storyboards in partnership with seasoned media professionals & novice students• Maintain website and social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram & Facebook)• Manage ~5 student & WWU staff crew each season (researching topics/scientists, video and audio editing, social media campaigns)• Grew program from a local radio show into a multimedia program with five seasons sponsored by WWU Podcast: SparkScience.podbean.com & iTunesFacebook: @sparksciencenowTwitter: @sparksciencenowInstagram: @sparkscience

SAMI is a program in the Science Division of Bellevue College with the mission of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) success on campus and in the surrounding community. The ambassador position is a quarterly position that allows faculty to become involved with outreach opportunities at the college and in the surrounding community. These are a few events in which I have been involved: Seattle Science Festival 2012, Passport to Stem @ BC, SACNAS conference, the Venus Transit Viewing and associated Astronomy Lecture Series.
