Work is where we spend so much of our time and energy, so I’ve always wanted to do work that impacts the lives of other people. My work has been in the field of healthcare, specifically in the areas of biomedical research, wearable tech, and digital health.My early career was dedicated to research in academic medical centers. There I leveraged an understanding of biology, physics and medicine to develop next-generation optical devices. Those devices allowed doctors to sense and see what they couldn’t before, helping them to make better decisions about diagnosing diseases and evaluating administered therapies. In 2016, I transitioned into the startup world. The motivation for this change was to do work that could affect people at scale. First, I joined a team that was making a next-generation wearable device with an implantable biosensor. In the startup environment I wore many hats, with contributions spanning across the development of data analytics and algorithms, designing clinical trials for FDA evaluation, defining publication strategy, and designing data products.More recently, I joined an AI-based digital health initiative, with the mission to provide coaching about prevention and management of chronic diseases, including diabetes and hypertension. My team evaluates the performance of our digital health programs, monitors key performance indicators, and ensures that we provide quality data and reporting products to healthcare providers and their clients.Currently, my time is spent defining the right questions for our talented data experts to answer, designing systems to support analytics and reporting, and building a team that reliably delivers and positively impacts company culture.
