Samantha Clark is a PhD scientist and engineer specializing in biotechnology with a focus on sustainable food solutions. As a Senior Scientist at Mosa Meat, she uses her expertise in bioprocessing, cell culture, and food science to develop sustainable and flavorful cultivated meat.Growing up in rural Alabama, Samantha developed a deep interest in food and its origins, inspired by the meals prepared daily from her families' fields and gardens. This led her to earn a BSc in Food Science and Nutrition from Auburn University, USA. After a brief experience in the food industry, which highlighted unsustainable practices, she pursued an MSc and PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Tennessee, USA focusing on sustainable energy production from cyanobacterial proteins. In this pursuit, she gained extensive experience in optimizing biorocessing systems, as well as, cell and protein characterization. Her move to Europe allowed her to combine passions for bioprocess development, sustainability, and nutrition, while advancing the commercialization of cultivated meat. A product she believes in deeply due to her decades as a competitive swimmer and triathlete, in which she saw the strong tie between nutrition, performance and well-being.
