About Scot Conway

“You have an incredible system. It’s one of the most well-thought out systems I’ve ever seen or even heard about. But… may I make an observation?” I was speaking to a journalist that got to see me in person and listen to my voice. She heard all the information about what I do in some detail… but she noticed something missing… my passion. That was her question: "Where's your passion?" I had dedicated over thirty years to the system, so clearly I am committed. I’ve invested heavily in making sure the principles are internally self-consistent and the deeper you go, the more interesting and more useful it gets… but she wondered how someone dedicates their entire life to an endeavor like this without passion for it. It’s because I don’t have passion for my system. I don’t have passion for any given piece of it, either. I’m not terribly passionate about The Ohana Way – not even the “ten levels deep” part. Nor 4P360, the 360-Degree Leadership System. What about my martial art? Surely one does not become a Grandmaster and devote nearly fifty years to a system without passion, right? Well, yes, I love my system… but I’m not passionate about it. I’m passionate about people. Want to see me light up? It’s people that do that. The system is a tool. The people are the purpose. I love to take my system to a leader and share it, and watch that leader show up in ways previously unimaginable. I love to teach the skills that enable a leader to walk into the storm with confidence and bring calm. I love seeing a leader face conflict and create collaboration. I love watching problems lead to peace. The system serves the leader – not the other way around. I’m not passionate about my system any more than I’d be passionate about a tool box full of great tools. I’m passionate about what we can do with them. I’m passionate about you – a leader – taking the system and growing in your mastery of this very cool thing. The goal, though, is always people. That’s where you find my passion. I show up with the tools to equip leaders to embody an integrity-driven, simple and sophisticated system to be more than they could imagine – and walk into chaos already knowing that they will win. That’s where I find my passion.

Listed skills include Corporate Training, Published Author, Non Fiction Writer, Books, and 29 others.

Commercial Real Estate, Business Broker

Current

I have been a real estate broker since 2005 (CaDRE: 01486363), and attorney since 1992 (CalBar: 159335, MOBar: 74302). My primary foci as an attorney includes Estates and Business, but my ability to help beyond legal and business coaching had been limited by my license. Joining eXp Commercial enables me to help my business clients and their families through the purchase and sale of the assets that often make up the largest portion of their Estate... and, frankly, often make the biggest mess. I practice in that "ikigai" sweet spot at the intersection of all my licenses and practice.

Ninety percent of the problems this attorney has seen with estates have very little to do with the quality of a lawyer's job. It's almost always a very common human-problem that not only does the lawyer NOT handle... it's not even the lawyer's job. We just don't know it! The solution is in a free report and an online Estate Master Training found at I Love Them Enough (ILoveThemEnough.com). It's taught by multiple-state attorney Scot Conway (aka "Grandmaster Scot") to solve that pending wealth disaster that is just starting to happen now. I think we would rather ALL avoid the disaster and make sure we get our estate plan, illness plan, and (for the modern era), quarantined-away-from-home plan set up well... because "I love them enough" to make sure I don't leave a mess. Be Build Bring

Georgetown, Texas, United States

I help leaders build genuine connection into the DNA of their company culture. The moment of truth for company culture is when a conflict-creating problem arises. I show leaders how to navigate easily from conflict to collaboration, from the problem back to peace. I do this using the Hawaiian ideal of Ohana (family), which I further teach as Oasis, Harmony, Assertiveness, Nobility, and Aloha. I also use 4P360, a proprietary 360-Degree Leadership System doubly modeled on how leadership is accomplished at all levels, from all levels, to all levels in the martial art Guardian Kempo Kajuko Do, and as I saw personally modeled by John Maxwell in his years as senior pastor of Skyline Church. As a lawyer, I was disappointed at how many legal problems arose because of a breakdown in fundamental human relationships. About 70% of the time a great team member leaves a company, it's over people, not the work. When high-end clients leave, it's often over how they are treated as people, not just about the product or service. This inspired me to bring my Ohana and Leadership system to the business world. I teach Ohana and 4P360 principles from stage, in training rooms, one-on-one, in person and online. My considerable body of work in books, audios, and online programs supports and supplements by training. The path is to establish the fundamentals, and then take the steps to Be Ohana, then Build Ohana, and then Bring Ohana to the world - both the world of the company and to ripple outward into the community through the team and customers.

Grandmaster

Current
Guardian Kempo Kajuko Do

San Diego, California, United States

I invested 45 years of my life becoming a grandmaster, a title that comes with some rather weighty responsibilities. In self-defense, the moment of truth is when what you've learned it put to the test. As the grandmaster, I'm responsible for making sure the art is well-crafted and everything does what we say it does. The next level is that the instructors must teach it correctly. Finally, the students must learn and practice correctly. If all these line up, any given encounter with criminal violence will likely end well.Over the decades, thirty student encounters with criminal violence have put their skill to the test, sometimes at a high level. All thirty times, the student defeated the criminal and restored peace. With how robust and effect the art is, when I retired from the San Diego area dojo, the students consistently talked about the Ohana Culture and how the dojo felt like home and family. I continue in the role of Grandmaster and teach periodic masterclasses to senior martial artists, and I bring the Ohana culture and 360-degree Leadership System used by the GKKD Martial Arts system to others. As I developed my own martial arts style (with the help of several masters), I started to appear in magazines. Black Belt Magazine, Inside Karate, Martial Arts Training, Inside Kung Fu, and Martial Arts Professional Magazine are just a sampling of the magazines I've been in. I was asked to join the American Council on Martial Arts and help author the ACMA Instructor Certification Manual used by over 7,000 schools worldwide. I trained instructors from around the world at the National Association of Professional Martial Artists four years in a row. I also served on the board of the Martial Arts Teachers Association. My signature accomplishment is the Safe2bSafe System. I teaches people in a very safe, very careful progression of skill. With this exceptional system, you can start as an ordinary (even an out-of-shape) person with zero experience.

Business consulting and legal coaching grew out of my legal practice. I noticed that positive leadership skills and a culture of genuine connection could have avoided 80% of all legal problems my clients encountered. At the highest levels of business, the problems are more human than technical.I rarely take new legal clients. I will sometimes do legal work for longtime clients or clients of my other services. I prefer to help my clients avoid legal problems with employees by building genuine connection into the DNA of company culture, and help my clients avoid legal problems with clients and customers by building genuine connection with excellent service into the client experience and customer culture.

Coach Trainer And Business Coach

Powerteam Consulting

San Diego, California, United States

I was responsible for training new coaches in fundamentals of serving clients at a very high level. The coaches’ backgrounds ranged from brand new to highly experienced, with the level of training needed for coaches varying greatly. Skills training started with education and value-based selling, to prove value first and offer services second. I also taught coaches a leveraged system to help clients build their business, how to connect with and inspire their clients, and how to help clients keep their best team members and best clients.

Author, Speaker, Trainer, Coach

Conway Enterprises

Education and professional credentials are great to have in a coach. Good sense is more important. Conway is known for solid principles and comprehensive thinking. In that sense, you could call him a practical philosopher. For many clients, a Ph.D.-level coach with a law degree is a major bonus (yes, Conway is still licensed to practice law, though he is mostly retired from it). Some appreciate even more his whole person with a whole life in a whole job approach. Human dynamics affect high-end business performance as much as knowing what action to take next. A coach who deeply understands human dynamics is especially valuable. Conway doesn’t just tell you what ought to be done next, he gives you all the backup and tools you need to get it done. If you find that you have trouble implementing, he’ll help you find the gap and bridge it. If you need more skills or tools to help between a decision and a result, he’ll train you for that, too. In short order, you’ll know how to do all this completely on your own. Then Conway will work with you on next-level skills to step up your game as much as you like.Dr. Conway supplements his instruction with his own books and audios as appropriate so clients are not using the precious private-coaching time on high-value information Conway can provide by other means. He is often heard to say “business may be business, but business people are still people.” If that sounds like someone you crave for your team, talk to him so he can see if you and he are a good match and let the coaching begin!

His signature accomplishment is the Safe2bSafe System. He teaches people in a very safe, very careful progression of skill. With this exceptional system, you can start as an ordinary (even an out-of-shape) person with zero experience. You build skill upon skill, principle upon principle, here a little, there a little. It starts out very simple, very safe and you work forward as quickly as is personally safe for you. Everything you learn makes you a little better prepared to protect yourself. Those “little bits” add up, and before you know it, you’re much better prepared than you might have imagined! In his first 23 years teaching, Conway had 29 students attacked by bullies and bad guys. His students won every single time. Sometimes they only needed a little force and no one was seriously hurt. Sometimes they needed a high level of force. Sometimes they had to hit someone hard enough to drop them, or even choke them out. In a few cases (small women), the bad guy (adult men) was hospitalized.Just as important as effective, safe martial arts training is the life training Conway provides. In martial arts, it is said “A good instructor teaches you how to fight. A great instructor teaches you how to live!” Conway does so excellently. He does so personally at Guardian Quest Martial Arts.
