Established a 5-year strategic plan for Luna Innovations, moving them into a “pure play” fiber optic business and thereby becoming the #1 fiber sensing Company in the world. The plan entailed growing the existing assets organically, selling any group that was not under the fiber optic umbrella and using the proceeds to reinvest in the core business through additional sales, engineering and marketing resources. It also entailed significant expansion of Luna’s footprint into solution/systems offerings, allowing Luna to foster reoccurring revenue through monitoring of the assets after installation.

Appointed to run the operations in preparation for its growth expansion. Picometrix was a division of Luna, that develops and manufactures optoelectronic components (at 10, 40, and 100 Gb/s) for the telecommunication and test and measurement markets.

Worked closely with the new CEO to evaluate and improve the current business operations, revising them to grow and achieve the company’s long-term vision.

As Interim CFO after the founder and CEO left the Company and the current CFO took over the interim President role as the Company engaged in a CEO search, I was responsible for keeping the finance group focused on delivering accurate and timely results.

Led strategic, financial and operational initiatives focused on growth of the business outside of the United States, to include product management, procurement, manufacturing, purchasing and quality control. The goal was to head the expansion of the product offerings through opportunities located in Europe, China, India and Japan. Led strategic reviews and drive high performance internationally.

Led the charge for Luna as it continued to expand upon the business model that was represented in the S-1 and what shareholders invested in during the IPO. The model suggested, through contract research investments, there were technologies that could be invested in internally and advanced into products.
