Comtech (NASDAQ: CMTL), approximately $500M in revenue, is a leading manufacturer of satellite & space equipment (e.g., modems, amplifiers, and antennas) and terrestrial & wireless products & services (e.g., NextGen 911 services). Served as the Finance Manager covering FP&A activities at a company-wide level. Led a team and reported to the VP of Corporate Planning. Key responsibilities included: • Consolidation and monthly analysis of monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows forecasts across 8 business units as well as other supplemental schedules including R&O’s, capital expenditures, backlog, and headcount.• Prepared weekly and monthly KPI dashboards, conducted trend analysis and actual vs. forecast variance analysis to identify business problems and help develop solutions.• Assisted with preparation of business unit forecasting models as well as prepared the corporate department expense forecast and allocation model.• Assisted with coordination, consolidation, and analysis of the long-range plan.• Prepared financial analysis and presentations for the company’s Board of Directors.• Assisted with external reporting including preparing the quarterly earnings presentation and preparing schedules used for SEC reporting purposes.• Supported ad-hoc projects including preparing financial analysis and schedules for the divestiture Comtech’s Power Systems business, which was successfully sold to Stellant for $40M. • Financial lead for the Network Operations Center, Production Operations, Multiplatform Technology, Infrastructure, and Global Project Management areas within the Media Technology Services organization of Viacom.• Directly supported the Senior Vice Presidents of Viacom Media Networks, managing approximately $200M in expenses.• Worked closely with Senior Management to determine the necessary funds to run the business, manage expenses, make recommendations for savings, and alert senior management to risks and opportunities.• Managed the month-end close process, conducted monthly variance analysis, prepared annual budget and quarterly forecasts.• Successfully transitioned multiple functions to a new financial services center, which provided month-end close support.
