Worked as a seasoned technician on a pilot study examining the presence and distribution of cougars and big horn sheep on a refuge. I deployed a series of experimental hair snares and trail cameras to detect and collect DNA from the resident cougar population. I mentored another technician on this project and made decisions for our daily duties. I wrote weekly reports to update our supervisory staff and created Microsoft Access products to organize data and trail camera photos. I wrote protocols and best practices for future use on this project.

A pilot study performing wolf track and scat surveys in the Arrowhead of northern Minnesota. I performed surveys for wolf tracks and scat along pre-determined routes at regular intervals, on foot, snowshoe, cross country ski and snowmobile. Scat samples were collected according to given best practices and stored for later eDNA analysis. I followed wolf tracks until I could confidently decide how many animals were traveling along a given route at a time. I deployed and maintained trail cameras along game trails and snowmobile routes to document pack and individual movements. I wrote documents and protocols for this pilot study for future use. I managed a vast amount of geospatial data, photos, and biological specimens.

A long-term Greater Sage Grouse study where my duties included capturing sage grouse, affixing VHF radio collars, taking biological measurements, performing regular radio telemetry checks and extensive vegetation surveys. I carefully followed all written protocols and performed other duties as assigned.
