IPS is a Western Australian based company that has recently been awarded a Federal Tender to deliver Business Advisory Services for the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet (PM&C) in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.I have been appointed as Business Advisor for the Queensland Region covering all rural and remote locations within the state. This covers everything outside the South East Queensland corner and includes the Torres Straits.I will provide expert technical assistance and support to Indigenous businesses by:• understanding the local market and identifying business opportunities • connecting Indigenous businesses at similar levels of development with each other in a supportive/ development environment • preparing business proposals, plans and financial projections • understanding the value and role of commercial viability in the finance and growth space and assisting Indigenous businesses to demonstrate the commercial viability of their proposals• understanding governance issues relevant to their business/ proposal (eg intellectual property protection, insurances, cyber-security)• advising Indigenous businesses when other business support services might be required (e.g. accounting, marketing and legal services) and connecting Indigenous business with local service providers in these areas)• preparing applications for commercial funding and government grants, and if required, consider applicability of PM&C grant opportunities• providing reporting back to National Office to facilitate evaluation of trial• building business capability of local businesses and community members, in conjunction with Business Facilitators, and • building business capability across the Queensland zone.
