My first goal when starting a new project is to gain the confidence of the site / asset owner. This can be achieved through demonstrated good preparation, with a detailed knowledge of the processes, good communication skills and a calm temperament. Additionally it is very important to treat all people with respect, providing continual support and encouragement, by listening, as everyone can have a valuable contribution to ensuring a good project outcome. Additionally i believe it is very important to keep all staff willingly engaged, and to gain the trust of all stakeholders ,as it is vital to have good communication back from the coal face. I believe that good project outcomes are the product of genuine teamwork, and not just the efforts of the individual.
