Started and ran a pool management business that served neighborhoods in Marion, Clay and Johnson Counties over 10 summers. Employed over 230 friendly, well-trained guards and managers to provide safe, hygienic swimming facilities in multiple pools.

Taught a diverse population of students using project-based learning, computer-aided research methods, and videography, to name a few of my methods. I regularly embedded language arts and mathematics into the curriculum as I worked to support the learning of students in high achieving as well as inclusionary settings.

Taught Social Studies classes using a variety of instructional techniques and resources. Students used technology for research, presentations, and creating projects as demonstrations of their learning.

Taught remedial mathematics and language arts to students, grades 11 and 12. I integrated computer-aided instruction into the process, as well as focused and personalized instruction techniques and project-based remediation.

Coordinated services for, counseled, and taught a diverse population of students who were at risk of dropping out of high school. Teaching strategies included intensive program personalization, utilization of computer-aided instruction, project-based instruction, and small group instruction.

Taught civics and the various social studies to ninth graders and U.S. History to 11th graders at a school with broad population diversity. Teaching strategies included Socratic seminars, service learning, and project-based instruction.Supported team planning and curriculum alignment with three other educators with the same set of students.

Directed a staff of fourteen educators for three years as we worked with 135 participants, ages four to fourteen, in an educational and recreational program. Duties included staff selection, training, and supervision; kitchen and facilities supervision; curriculum and program development; parent and community relations; participant discipline; and scheduling. I also reported to the supervising committee regularly.

Taught U.S. History to eighth graders at Coleman Middle School. Major efforts included integrating service learning and computer technology into the curriculum and building financial, material and human resources for the school. Also served as an academic team leader and baseball coach.

Administered Indiana's Learn and Serve America Grant, which involved youth in meeting community needs while addressing curriculum (service learning). Facilitated school/business partnership activities in over sixty schools in the Indianapolis Public School system while also serving on various education advisory committees.

Taught for two summers in an alternative education and employment program for urban youth identified as at risk of dropping out of school.

Taught Social Studies and U.S. History at Shortridge Junior High School. Assisted in coaching soccer and softball. Sponsored a student service group called Students Offering Service (SOS).
