About Scott Bicksler
I've spent years working in both the food and beverage industry and construction. In my time I've found that most industries are similar, in that they are made of people, their wants and needs, their experiences and opinions, and the goals they have set. I've cultivated in myself a drive to be highly successful no matter what the industry or career I am in, and have had many successes over the years, both personally and for my employers. I've learned new industries quickly by submersing myself in industry literature and knowledge, creating relationships with those who are more knowledgable than myself and by being open to new opportunities and experiences. As I become a master of my work I enjoy sharing knowledge with those who ask, and training employees by example and patient understanding that skills are a learned behavior. I've been nominated and elected to industry organizational leadership positions, promoted to high levels of management and leadership positions, on the merits of my skills, knowledge and ability to communicate with piers. I stand strong in my ability to quickly and fully understand problems and navigate towards core issues for resolution, but remain open to the possibility that others may have unique and insightful solutions that I have not considered. My goal in problem solving is always to find the best solution to fit the situation, whether through my own experience and knowledge or through collaboration with others, and to give credit to those who have helped along the way. My goal as an employer, manager, or employee is to achieve best results in an efficient manner and create maximum efficacy when utilizing company resources.

Project Estimator / Project Developer
Owner/Operator
As the owner and sole operator I have been responsible for all aspects of this business. To maximize my business leads I have utilized social media, such as Facebook, Next-door and Angi's List to cultivate new clients and showcase the work I have accomplished. In using these tools I have been able to stay steadily booked 6-8 weeks in advance of my current projects. Along with social media, I have many repeat customers and referrals due to the high quality of work, strong work ethic and timely execution of projects. I am comfortable and great with in-home sales, and have closed on over 90% of the estimates that I have bid on. This is due to both my knowledge and ability to discover the customers needs and find solutions, and my honesty and integrity when I convey that what they need is not necessarily what they want. For larger renovation projects I prepare 3D models on Google SketchUp to give the client a visual representation to more fully understand what they can expect when I am finished. Beyond the excellent sales experience I have cultivated, I manage all of my projects utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite, budgeting to fit the clients needs, and clearly explaining when the budget doesn't allow the work they require. From materials procurement, to managing my work schedule, I have successfully kept my projects both on budget and on time, while maintaining a high quality of work that shows in the repeat business and referrals from my clients. I understand and appreciate the need to have work completed on time and in budget, and have a high level of trust from my clients as I am working in their homes and personal spaces. I have a 100% satisfaction rate for the projects I have taken on. When challenged with unforeseen circumstances or unknown factors I have always found a solutions that satisfies both the client and my standards for quality work. I strive to leave my clients homes with them happy with the work, and to call me again.
Chief Estimator / Project Manager / Coordinator
Genesis Architectural is a Montgomery County, PA based Custom Metal and Glass Fabrication and Installation Company. The installations are primarily in Manhattan, for some of the largest construction companies in the world, such as Skanska, AECOM and Related. As a critical part of the sales team, I worked directly with the Operations Manager and Owner to negotiate deals ranging from $500,000 to $20million. Prior to my arrival at Genesis averaged $8million a year on the books. In the three years I was there I closed on over $35million in contracts through my efforts on both estimating and sales. Utilizing BlueBeam and Excel, I quickly became efficient at take-offs and identifying specifications per job requirements. I worked integrally with Purchasing, Engineering, Shop and Operations daily and in weekly production meetings. In six months I was promoted to Chief Estimator and reported directly to the Operations Manager to find new prospects, make industry contacts, negotiate, and close on deals. I spent 20% of my time in NYC meeting with the top decision makers at GC’s and cultivating relationships with them and their employees. I was able to utilize this to have better access to future projects before otherwise presented. As we increased sales I was tasked with project managing along with estimating. My first project was for NYU Medical, for $500,000 of structural steel and specialty metal and glass fixtures for surgical rooms. I attended weekly All Trade production meetings and oversaw 4-8 Union Glaziers and Ironworkers during installation. At the completion of this job, on time, I had the highest profit margin for any job to that date at 40%. I accomplished this by being organized, on task and ahead of the issues that might have occurred by communicating with the various trades and site foreman on the project.
Head Brewer
As Head Brewer I was given control over our fermentation cellar, filtering and specialty Barrel Program. Managing as many as 15 employees over all aspects of the brewery, and still helping on the floor as needed. Our barrel program consisted of 4 months of intensive work filling, storing and emptying 120-150 oak barrels a week for filtration and packaging, on top of regular brewing operations. I managed the logistics of accomplishing this while maintaining regular brewing operations, in terms of staffing, inventory, scheduling and technical needs. I also led the team on our Pilot Brewery design and install for a 4bbl system that allowed us to try new beers on a small scale which would be sold from our tap room. I lead weekly brewer meetings to discuss new recipe creation, safety and technical issues on the floor and any other issues that came up. I was a rotating part of our in house safety team as well. I worked hand in hand with our QC/QA lab manager to develop a consistent yeast program to increase quality, and a sensory program to develop employee skills in recognizing off flavors for the purpose of quality control.
Lead Brewer
In this position I continued to do daily brewing activities but was put in charge of all brewers and brewing activities. I managed 5 brewers, and received daily direct reports on brewing and fermentation activity. I trained all of our new brewers, many of whom went through n to become successful head brewers at other breweries. I was responsible for 12 40bbl brews per week and as many as 24 concurrent fermentations. This involved quality assurance, safety, inventory, scheduling and problem solving. Eventually as we grew and became more efficient we upgraded our brew house to double capacity and I played an integral part in both the design and installation of this new equipment. Along with this, creating new techniques to use the equipment and training all of the brewers on it.
