SBS was a building services company serving West Michigan. We started with window cleaning from Holland up to Manistee, a hundred and ten miles north along the Lake Michigan shoreline. In a few short years, we built out an IICRC certified carpet cleaning crew, a hard floor crew, and cleaned over a million square feet every night for banks, medical offices, and even the Mason County Airport. I was the company's project manager, a state-licensed builder, and general contractor on water and fire damage projects. With this company, I threw myself into the task of growing from a single-man operation to employing twenty workers. Our recipe for success was to use utilize scientific principles and train our people as technicians creating the best value and delivery in our space. I learned to financially manage the scaling of operations with sufficient top-line revenue to continually grow, earn a consistent profit and expand our territory year after year. In 2005 I sold the subsidiary Scott's Janitorial and Window Washing to its general manager Patrick Quinn while it enjoyed the number one position in its territory. In 2006 I sold Scott's Carpet Steamer and Scott's Disaster Restoration to focus on my other businesses, namely the explosive growth at my acquired Pawn Shop. Tragically Patrick passed away a few years after I sold the company with no succession plan for the company.

Make no mistake It is a tough job serving the working poor and/or who are experiencing major life changing issues like the loss of a good-paying job, cancer, divorce or who simply help loved ones despite low wages. You must live your mission to succeed. The one who creates and delivers the most "lifetime value" for the customer gets way ahead of the pack.
