• Managed 12 Quartermasters and nine junior Officers that handled all navigational, administration, payroll, and records management responsibilities for a 16,000-ton, Whidbey Island Class dock landing ship with ~400 personnel.• Qualified and regularly served as Officer of the Deck (in Command) in Underway conditions. • Developed and groomed a junior division of QMs to ensure ship’s safe return from an extended deployment including over 150 restricted water transits and sea & anchor details, as well as steaming over 55,000 nautical miles. • Noted by the Commanding Officer as “My go-to Chief on the bridge …” Provided substantial seamanship training to Junior Officers to include over-the-shoulder guidance during scores of restricted water transits and amphibious ship-to-shore actions. • Personally trained and qualified five underway bridge watch sections.• Served on Seamanship and Anti-Terrorism Training Teams and as ship’s Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor (DAPA). • Meritoriously promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer during this tour for sustained superior performance and leadership profile.

• (1/11-1/12) Directed the training, qualification and formal certification of 223 personnel assigned to a Riverine Warfare Command that enabled the insertion and extraction of combat arms, provided fire support and tactical ISR, engaged with international security partnerships and ensured local control of maritime lines of communication for the Navy enterprise.• Trained and formally qualified scores of Riverine Boat Captains and Patrol Officer in safe navigation and sound seamanship.• Developed a comprehensive Small Craft navigation course to better prepare for missions in worldwide littorals and rivers. • (3/09-12/10) As Detachment LCPO, Patrol Leader and Boat Captain, planned and led the tactical employment, professional development and overall welfare of 55 Riverine personnel, four riverine craft and 12 tactical vehicles.• Deployed 135 days to Iraq to conduct combat operations. Led 42 combat patrols, located enemy ordnance and IEDs, trained hundreds of Iraqi soldiers and police, and denied the enemy’s use of Iraq’s waterways. • Established an aggressive Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare (EXW) qualification training plan for qualified unit personnel.

• Taught prospective Navigators for the Navy’s unique fleet of Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) hovercraft. Provided instruction through one-on-one classroom, laboratory, simulator and underway training. • Contributed hundreds of hours into the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) simulator and curriculum upgrades, preparing both EWTG and Assault Craft Units for the next generation of LCAC operators. • Delivered 500+ hours annually in advanced training in high-speed radar navigation, collision avoidance, communications, and casualty control procedures. Handpicked to prepare 17 peer instructors for a revised and intense requalification process.• As Chart Custodian, ensured all charts used in instruction were current including digital charts for the Full Mission Trainer (FMT) and that all Navigator students were well versed in proper chart maintenance.• Scheduled 17-week courses that involved several hundred hours of classroom, simulator and live craft operations for each convening. Coordinated simulator missions for 36 LCAC crews from ACU-4 accounting for hundreds of hours of operations.
