Scott Cole is a Director of Resident Services at The Schochet Companies. As a colleague and a supervisor, Scott offered invaluable support during my time at Fresh Pond. When I decided that I wanted to return to school part-time for my Master's Degree, Scott was not only encouraging but also provided me with the flexibility I needed to meet both my professional and educational requirements. His unyielding sense of justice and respect for all people as well as the belief that working within someone's home was a unique privilege, are lessons I continue to carry with me. During the time that I worked with him, Scott created and set the tone for a culture of caring, community building, and human connection that ended up shaping all the programs, services, and resources we provided to community members. Scott had lots of energy, ideas, and vision, but also the patience and follow through to build trust and long term relationships with individuals and families, and the community as a whole. Scott was instrumental at building connections and partnerships with other organizations and nonprofits that provided support and resources for members of the community. We were able to offer a wide range of educational and community-building programs such as ESL classes and kids’ soccer programs which were only possible due to the partnerships forged by Scott, as well as his ongoing work in securing funding and approval and providing logistical support. Scott cared deeply about each of the families he worked with, and he was tireless advocate for them and for the community as a whole. He brought a grace and openness to cross-cultural interactions and relationships which has had a lasting impact on my life and work since then. "
