Performed a variety of supplier integration and senior designer roles on A350 and A330Neo. Designed and checked large, thick-section composite frames and adjacent structure for A350 cargo door surround as well as serving as integration focal for GECI (Germany) offsite design team. Served as integration focal for QuEST (India) designing A330Neo metallic wing fixed leading edge structure. Coordinated efforts of the Assystem onsite design team for system bracket installation on the composite side shells of the A350. Trained and mentored designers, assigned work and established processes. Developed drafting-modeling check templates and maintained drawing checklists.Checked tolerancing & interface drawings for A350 primary attach fittings to lower cover & pylon torque box, secondary cover bolting, & fairings. Performed worst-case and statistical tolerancing analysis and for primary and secondary pylon attach structure. Led four-engineer team to design and release installations and detail parts using model-based definition for the 787 pylon fairings and support structure. Negotiated interfaces between pylon fairings and the thrust reverser/ fan cowl for Rolls Royce & General Electric engine options.

Led eight-engineer design team to release over 80 drawings covering spar machinings & assys, boltings, fastener maps, root joint, leading-edge rootend structure, and top-level wing assy. Coordinated with UK design, manufacturing, and US spar machining suppliers. Redefined inspection requirements for spar flatness drawing. Coordinated final assembly and flight testing of fourth Premier I as Ship’s Captain. Planned and scheduled major mod periods. Coordinated ground vibration testing and preparation for first flight. Coordinated testing of engine vibration, engine performance verification, flight flutter, electrical system ops, & cabin cooling. Requested & expedited engineering changes. Created mod engineering to modify test aircraft. Tracked assy line squawks and functional test status. Provided engineering support to final assy line.

Responded to production installation problems for five months as primary liaison engineer on RC-135U Combat Sent aircraft. Solved problems with explanations, engineering changes, or coordination with design, planning, or MRB. Resolved interference and fastener problems with floor beam intercostals, revised closeout panels effected by new structure, solved installation problems with air conditioning ducts and valves.

Re-organized and ran the senior capstone aircraft design class largely on my own initiative. Received 1991 College of Engineering Award for Exemplary Performance in Engineering Teaching. Wrote 90 pages of instructional handouts for the class and published a 160-page volume of course notes. Set up industry contacts for consulting and design reviews with student teams. Conducted weekly progress meetings with student teams, gave hour lectures, graded design reports and assigned final course grades.

Studied requirements of the proposed Boeing Low Speed Wind Tunnel. Compared the proposed tunnel with existing low-speed tunnels to help determine needed capability.

Supported preliminary design of the High Speed Civil Transport in the HSCT Aerodynamics group.

Supported stores-carriage development for the Agile Falcon, an F-16 derivative aircraft. Designed full-scale mockup for selling new pylon concepts. Conducted aircraft CG studies for various fuel burns and stores loadings. Supported the Low-Intensity Conflict Aircraft static display for the 1988 Farnborough Air Show. Coordinated installation of weapons mockups on a Cessna Caravan I utility airplane, a photo shoot of the aircraft and systems for sales brochures, and shipping of mockup articles to the airshow in England.
