As an Executive Director, CORE US Evidence & Value Strategies, I am responsible for providing input and guiding Merck teams on strategies for evidence generation that reflect the perspectives of key healthcare segments in the US. This includes US payers, integrated delivery systems, prescription benefits managers and other health care professional or patient organizations.  With a rapidly changing US healthcare environment, I aim to understand decision making processes and the potential of data from trials, real-world settings and models to inform key decisions.  With this information, I can then advise internal teams on how to generate customer-relevant evidence.

Activities:• Lead outcomes research strategic and operational support for U.S. Markets in the areas Oncology, Hepatitis C, Anesthesia, HIV and Specialty franchises;• Representative of Merck for multiple professional organziations;• Managed $5.2 million dollars in outcomes research project budget;• Core team member of Merck Center for Observational Evidence.

• Managed a team of five PhD health services researchers on projects supporting internal initiatives;• Managed $1.75 million dollar health services research departmental budget;• Developed and led client collaborative health care cost prediction project with researchers from the Cleveland Clinic;• Designed and conducted research into breast cancer treatment management with interdisciplinary team of health services researchers, oncologists and business development personnel.

• Identified and developed collaborative partnerships with key opinion leaders in infectious disease medicine and outcomes research; • Coordinated with internal brand managers and medical teams to develop collaborative client research projects;• Collaborated with important clients on the design and development of decision analytic models and systematic reviews.

• Performed drug safety investigations using the General Practice Research Database;• Developed procedures and methodologies for the implementation of propensity score models for internal drug safety investigations;• Conducted analysis of AERS data for risk factors for heparin related anaphylaxis and deaths.

• Started Apex Analytics, Inc. to provide research and consulting services to the global pharmaceutical industry;• Designed and customized and AMCP formulary requests for state Medicaid programs and large national managed care plans for major pharmaceutical company;• Designed and conducted systematic review of the literature on antibiotic compliance for major pharmaceutical company.

• Developed and implemented US Outcomes Research strategies for Lipitor US Marketing Team;• Designed cost-effectiveness models evaluating drug therapy for coronary heart disease using large longitudinal managed care database;• Designed, customized and submitted Lipitor AMCP formulary requests for state Medicaid programs and large national managed care plans.

• Designed and implemented marketing and educational programs for Pfizer’s endocrinology and primary care field sales forces;• Coordinated outcomes research efforts between US brand team and US outcomes research;• Designed and initiated a co-marketing program for the American Diabetes Association’s Provider Recognition Program.

• Co-Designed and implemented the Diabetes Education Treatment Unit Research Project with the Harris County Hospital District, the Baylor College of Medicine and the Pfizer Diabetes team; • Managed Pfizer account responsibilities for institutions affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine and its residency and fellowship programs; • Managed Pfizer account responsibilities for over 300 specialty and primary care physicians within the Texas Medical Center; • Received District Sales representative of the Year (#1 out of 10), 1998 and Pratt Circle of Excellence (#4 out of 63), 1998 awards.

• Designed and implemented a local research program documenting the effectiveness of pharmacist management of warfarin dosing under physician protocol in the long-term care setting;• Developed formulary for a large hospice organization; • Designed and initiated a national campaign for CCB and ACE inhibitor therapeutic interchange for CHF.
