Co-Founder And Chief Technology Officer

Seneca, Sc, Us

Co-Founder And Chief Technology Officer

Brooklyn, New York, Us

Driving the commercialization of advanced optical fiber sensing technologies developed in academic research. Leading efforts to design and manufacture robust opto-electronics, develop commercial-ready downhole sensing heads, and establish best practices for reliable field installations across diverse applications.

Research Professor

Clemson, Sc, Us

Expanding on prior work, my current role focuses on pioneering cutting-edge designs and exploring novel applications of optical fiber sensing technologies. These efforts aim to push the boundaries of deformation monitoring in increasingly complex and diverse environments, including emerging settings in geodetic, seismic, and energy-related fields.

Research Associate Professor

Clemson, Sc, Us

Led efforts to refine and deploy advanced optical fiber tensor strainmeters and tiltmeters, supporting applications in carbon storage, geothermal energy, geodetic studies, seismology, and hydrology. Focused on optimizing instrument performance for field deployment and long-term monitoring in diverse geological settings.

May 2021 - Dec 2024

Research Assistant Professor

Clemson, Sc, Us

Developed prototype optical fiber interferometer systems to measure tensor strains and vector tilts in boreholes. Advanced R&D for passive, broadband sensing technologies aimed at geologic carbon storage monitoring, laying the groundwork for subsequent system refinements and field applications.

Apr 2016 - Apr 2021

Post Doctoral Fellow

Clemson, Sc, Us

Designed and tested fully integrated borehole measurement systems utilizing non-contact eddy current displacement transducers. Developed two distinct configurations: a cost-effective grout-in solution to replace traditional borehole strainmeters and a removable system optimized for temporary deployments, addressing diverse needs in geodetic and seismic applications.

Aug 2014 - Apr 2016

Graduate Student Researcher And Ph.D. Candidate

La Jolla, Ca, Us

My research at SIO dealt with optical fiber sensing for geophysical applications, which included low-frequency atmospheric acoustics and earth strain. I have designed, fabricated, and installed horizontal and vertical (borehole) strainmeters in Southern California as well as two arrays of borehole strainmeters in Bangladesh. This work has been presented at a number of regional (SCEC), national (AGU), and international (EWOFS) conferences.

Jun 2007 - Jun 2014

Visiting Research Scholar

University, Ms, Us

Low-frequency atmospheric pressure (infrasound) sensors are well known to respond to ground motion. The goal of my work was to characterize the mechanical response of three original piezoelectric infrasound sensor designs developed at the NCPA. Using this information, I determined the relative contributions of both the mechanical and pressure responses in situations like earthquakes and explosions. The results of this work was presented at the 2006 International Infrasound Technology Workshop in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Jun 2006 - Aug 2006

Undergraduate Research Assistant

River Falls, Wi, Us

The purpose of my research was to investigate the behavior of liquid droplets trapped in a single-beam gradient force optical trap. Previous work included trapping of silica spheres in a water filled glass cell, whereas my work concentrated on trapping liquid droplets in air. After significant modifications to the trap, I used a novel two-axis imaging technique combined with a high speed digital camera to examine the evaporation behavior of pure and saltwater solutions over a 80mW range of laser powers. This work was presented at the 2006 March Meeting of the American Physical Society.
