In this role, I mentored and developed a newly promoted GM as well as a team of over 125. This venue achieved revenues in excess of $7 M. It included 62,000 square feet of entertainment and F&B offerings (60+ arcade games, 38 lanes of bowling and a stage for live music). Capacity at this venue reached 1,575. In my role I brought margin improvement in all operational areas. Restructured staffing in a post-covid environment that addressed a non-contact need of POS transactions. I rendered assistance in event and entertainment planning. Produced leadership scenarios to improve execution of the core management team and support personnel. Additionally, I developed and coordinated cohesive front and back of house teams to improve operational efficiencies and achieve common sales or service goals. Achieved bonus targets for each of the four quarters in 2022.

Dion's Convenience Stores and Uptown Alley fall under the umbrella of companies for Uphoff Ventures LLC. After successfully returning Uptown Alley Surprise, AZ to profitability, I was asked by ownership to relocate to FL. and assist in the role of General Manager for their 12 Dion's Convenience Store chain. In this role I was tasked with restructuring the deli portion of the business at first. I provided a training platform that addressed preparation inconsistencies, profitability shortfalls and health-code mandates. This lead to an 8% improvement in food margins, industry compliance in overall food-safety regulations and reduced managerial turn-over. I oversaw exterior renovations of 10 stores and participated in the core team charged with the new flagship design of the Marathon FL location. I reported directly to Steve Uphoff, former CEO of Mid-Atlantic Convenience Store Company. Currently President of Uphoff Ventures, LLC.

In this position, I administered business functions for this 65,000 sq. ft. Family Entertainment Complex with an occupation capacity of 1,450. Complete with 40 lanes of bowling, 3 bars, a separate 175 seat restaurant, private club with bowling and dancing, 77 interactive games and laser tag. Annual sales of $7.3 M. Corrected underperforming financial results due to increased competition via a cost benefit approach to all expense lines. Restructured labor to address lapses in business flow. Renegotiated service contracts to reduce unnecessary expenditures. Exceeded all health code standards and surpassed bonus expectations each quarter while there.

DAVE AND BUSTERS – Scottsdale, AZ 2008 – 2016 General ManagerManaged popular food, beverage and entertainment venue in north Scottsdale. Directed nine managers and 150 employees. Venues included 12 bowling lanes, billiards, 175 interactive games, as well as eight separate event spaces, which could handle up to 2,500 guests. Increased sales from $6.5 Million, 2008 to $10.2 Million in 2015 by expanding local marketing efforts, staff and focusing on employee morale. Selected as a training facility for the Maricopa County Health Department. Achieved bonuses 28 consecutive quarters, which resulted in minimal management turnover. Won award for achieving zero management turnover in 2014. Improved performance rating and ranking from lower 25% to top 60% out of 85 stores. Major clients included American Express, Honeywell, PetSmart, Henkel and Discover Card.

BLACK ANGUS – Phoenix, AZ 2001 – 2008 Senior District Manager Oversaw all aspects of operations for seven locations in AZ and NM with more than 500 employees. Directed all activities such as interviewing, hiring and training; accounting, sales, marketing and budgeting. Each restaurant comprised of 40+ managers and FOH/BOH. Managed sales and operational budget of $19 Million. Achieved an average of $20 Million in annual sales during tenure by monitoring labor to revenue and maximizing marketing resources. Reduced turnover to less than 10% by focusing on bonus targets. Turned an underperforming store in an island market to profitability with a 45% MOC.- Exceeded all health inspections and won Best Steakhouse award for 2005 and 2006. Selected by company president to launch two new prototype restaurants in the Phoenix market.  Named as District Manager of the Quarter, 2008. Selected as District Manager of the Year, 2006, for performance, shopper results and new store openings.  Chosen as expert to test and verify all new company initiatives and programs for future openings. Held multiple management positions in California from 1998 to 2001.
