While on placement year I worked in Capita within their Remote Desktop team. My role involved multiple different areas and I was involved in managing antivirus estates, building and imaging new machines and fixing client faults, both software and hardware related. I gained experience in working with SLA’s and managing and planning my time to ensure I resolved customer faults quickly and effectively while constantly keeping clients up to date on progress. I gained experience in working with SLA’s and managing and planning my time to ensure I resolved customer faults quickly and effectively while constantly keeping clients up to date on progress. I regularly spoke with field engineers calling in to have machines remotely configured for clients supporting customers throughout the UK, ROI. While working on Capita’s client’s antivirus estates I was involved in the configuration of firewalls, security policies as well as planning and rolling out upgrades to the current software. I also implemented a server to act as an AV update point for one of Capita’s clients that did not allow machines access to external networks. I also assisted with the encryption of machines and testing new versions on the variety of machines managed to ensure no unexpected failures during installation. Using Symantec Ghost, I imaged machines according to each individual request and installed any specific software as well as transferring software from customers older machines. Throughout my time at Capita I gained first-hand experience and became confident in communicating with a team and with customers, both in the UK and abroad. Show less
