As the Laboratory Director, I managed and supervised the daily operation of eight personnel working in IVF, andrology and endocrinology laboratories, and all affiliated satellite laboratories. I also performed Embryologist duties, which allowed me to expand and perfect my own laboratory techniques while facilitating effective operation by staff in the IVF laboratory. I also mentored and trained medical students and residents interested in reproductive endocrinology, maintained employee records, and conducted statistical analysis, quality control, and quality assurance.Some of my additional duties included:• Managed Abington Memorial Hospital andrology laboratory services, including billing for frozen embryos and sperm storage.• Ensuring compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation requirements and procedures for all on- and off-site testing sites.• Demonstrated and enforced high standards of conduct in the work environment to ensure clients experienced the highest quality of care.• Conducting monthly meetings to collaborate with leadership teams on process improvements in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical performances.• Maintaining oversight of laboratory equipment and supplies and purchasing requests, and managing databases of samples collected and donated.I am dedicated to implementing a team approach to provide quality care for patients seeking IVF treatments, display strong communication skills, and act as a liaison between nurse managers, physicians, embryology, andrology, and endocrinology laboratory staff members

As the off-site Laboratory Director, I reported on-site for 12 days per year to meet with key laboratory and departmental personnel, including the IVF medical director, laboratory supervisor, IVF cycle coordinator, and practice administrator. While on-site, I reviewed all quality control, quality assurance, and quality monitoring indicators, as well as equipment functions and proficiency testing. I also maintained databases for the IVF laboratory, as specified by the IVF medical director, and instructed collaboration on compliance with applicable regulatory agencies. I provided telephone consultations as needed and responded to emails within 24 hours. My other responsibilities included maintaining CAP accreditation standards, developing training programs and proficiencies for staff, and providing continuous education opportunities for staff.

During my postdoctoral fellowship, I performed projects involving examination of the molecular bases of cell-cell interactions occurring among trophoblast and uterine cells. I specifically focused on the gene expression of a heparin sulfate proteoglycan (perlecan) in mice embryos at the time of attachment competence

My doctoral research project involved the characterization of bovine uterine glandular epithelial and stromal cells. I analyzed protein and prostaglandin production by the isolated cell types and the regulation of gene expression of prostaglandins synthase in each cell type in response to recombinant bovine trophoblast interferon (rbtp-1). In my Master’s program, I used stereological techniques to quantify ultrastructural changes in caruncular epithelium of sheep during the pre-, peri- and post attachment periods of placentation.
