As the founder of Optimal Action Institute, I teach tai chi application and theory to three target groups: athletes, people with moderate to high ADHD, ODD, and Anxiety, and senior citizens. I have been an academic assistance high school English teacher for 22 years, a tai chi student/instructor for 16 years, and a tennis coach/instructor on and off since graduating high school "many years ago". While tai chi offers everyone and anyone the ability to live more optimally mentally, emotionally, and physically, in particular, senior citizens and students who face the challenges of living with ADHD and anxiety can dramatically improve their quality of life through tai chi practice and application. Athletes, the third group, who are interested in understanding and developing the elusive state of "being in the zone," mechanics, and power generation can benefit greatly from applying tai chi practice and theory to their weekly regiment. While the benefits of tai chi have not yet shown up in sports in a significant way, its tremendous and positive impact is known to perhaps the greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods. His father added tai chi training to Tiger's conditioning regiment, and the five-time Masters champion has pointed to it as a significant contributing factor to his mechanics and power development, stating that the dan tian is at the center of his swing.
