Playing Surfaces Technician
CurrentIndependently, or with the Playing Surfaces Manager, execute maintenance activities and provide direction to other team members. Perform or direct a range of activities including:•Accountable for satisfactory completion of overnight field conversions•Act for the Playing Services Manager, in his absence•Responsible for the majority of field preparation including:•Regular field maintenance including grooming, cleaning, repairs, infill planarity•Painting, including precise layout, alignment, colours, material selection and safety inspection•Setup, cleaning and maintenance of all grooming and painting equipment•Contingency planning prior to game day operations, E.g. weather issues•Independently, or at the direction of the Senior Playing Surface Technician•Perform ice maintenance including edging, chopping, shaving, leveling and flooding•Ice resurfacing and routine ice resurfacer maintenance•Regular arena inspection, maintenance of boards, glass and doors, safe glass replacement•Team successes included:•Ice preparation, maintenance, and stakeholder engagement, for Skate Canada 2017•Overcame significant challenges to ensure the success of the 2016 CFL Eastern Conference Final•Event and playing surfaces conversion successes related to the AC/DC concert•Canada-Brazil Road to Rio field preparation to FIFA standards•Personal successes include:•Mentoring employees to be successful and develop their skills, knowledge, and capabilities•Recognition by industry experts in field quality and maintenance practices, that our field is in outstanding condition, and my efforts have contributed to this.•Analyze and recommend solutions for operational challenges•Coordinate with Playing Surfaces Manager for ordering supplies and equipment repairs•Liaise with staff and management to ensure availability and safe operations of all playing surfaces
