Division Aviation Operations Officer (G3 Air)
As the 10th Mountain Division's Aviation Operations Officer (G3 Air), it is my duty to support the Commanding General and the Chief of Staff in planning, resourcing, and execution of aviation operations within the 10th Mountain Division, and to prepare the unit for combat deployments on short notice to anywhere on the globe. Within the division staff, I served as the primary aviation planning officer for division exercises, brigade Culminating Training Events, and to resource aviation for all subordinate units of the division. Additionally, I am required to advise the Commanding General and his staff on aviation operations, capabilities, limitations, and tactical employment of aviation assets. My staff and I assist subordinate units with information management, synchronization, and coordination pertaining to aviation matters, and represent aviation as a maneuver war fighting function in all Division efforts during the Military Decision Making Process, and mission execution. On a continuous basis, I am responsible for compiling and reporting Combat Aviation Brigade data to the 18th Airborne Corps and to Forces Command (FORSCOM).
Operations Officer And Observer/Coach/Trainer: 3-351 Aviation Training Battalion
While assigned as an Aviation Training Battalion Operations Officer at Fort Hood, TX, I was responsible for the full spectrum training, mobilization, and deployment validation of US Army Reserve and Army National Guard Aviation units, as they cycled through Fort Hood in preparation for deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Kosovo. Major efforts within this position included participation at semi-annual training planning conferences, Initial, Mid-, and Final Training Conferences, and 30+ day long training validation exercises conducted at Fort Hood, TX, Fort Bliss, TX, and Fort Sill, OK. Additionally, I was lead for the planning and execution of the battalion's support to Exercise Northern Strike in summer 2019 - the largest National Guard training exercise in the United States, with participants from 3 US service branches, and international participation from the United Kingdom and Bulgaria. Simultaneously to these external duties, I was responsible for the internal training management of the 57 person organization, ensuring that all certification training was completed, as well as all career required training, was conducted in proper timelines to ensure continued career progression of the unit's members.
Deputy Chief Of Current Operations: Army Europe
As the Deputy Chief of Current Operations for US Army Europe (USAREUR), I was responsible for maintenance, coordination, synchronization, and execution oversight of all operational activities on the continent of Europe for the US Army Europe command, and to provide this perspective to the military and civilian leadership of the organization. As such, I oversaw operational activity and coordinated communications across USAREUR staff, Major Subordinate Commands, the Department of the Army, European Command (EUCOM), Forces Command, NATO, and Army forces in the Baltics and Balkans. I was also responsible for ensuring successful execution of coordination and execution of all movements of US Army, Allied, and partner nation land forces within the EUCOM area of responsibility.
Aviation Company Commander
Company Commander for the only UH-60 Blackhawk utility helicopter company permanently assigned in Germany, providing priority aviation mission support to European Command, African Commander, US Army Europe, and all subordinate commands. In this position I was responsible for the accountability, maintenance, and employment of 11 UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and associated equipment valued in excess of $60 million. My primary duty was to oversee the Aircrew Training Program for 55 aviators and crew chiefs, with responsibility for the supervision and mentorship of seven non-commissioned officers, seventeen warrant officers, and thirteen enlisted soldiers. As an aviator, I maintained my proficiency as a Pilot in Command and Air Mission Commander for aircraft proficiency in all modes of flight including day, night and night vision goggles. During the tenure of my command, the organization executed flight operations in support of the President of the United States, the First Lady of the United States, the Vice President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Army, the Army Chief of Staff, the Army Command Sergeant Major, the commanding general of European Command/Supreme Allied Command, NATO; the US Army Europe Commanding General, and numerous US Ambassadors to the various nations of Europe. Highlights include support the the G7 Summit in Sicily (2017) and to the World Economic Forum (2017).
