Scott Fiveland is VP of operations at Unison Energy. Previously, he served in roles leading product development and was formerly worldwide chief engineer for natural gas engines at Caterpillar. He is a proven innovator and technology leader with 67 patents, many of which have been implemented to create new product offerings. He has been involved in the engine area for about 30 years - working with Caterpillar for over 21 years as well as sailing for a year on a range of steam / diesel blue water vessels as a power plant operator. He has a unique blend of deep practical experience in diesel and natural gas power systems (reciprocating engines / burner systems / gas turbines) coupled with a strong theoretically background (deep computational experience) that can be utilized to not only solve technical issues, guide large-scale programs, develop power systems strategies, but also build teams. Scott is an expert in combustion / kinetics, power system practical operation & analysis, engines system analysis, combustion of natural gas, diesel/gas, alternative fuels, and innovative engine systems/components. He has deep expertise ranging subsonic to supersonic combustion/fluid flow. He years of experience - valuation of technology solutions. He has experience leading/managing significant programs ($'s / scope etc.). He is a leader in the areas of emerging technology. Scott has published more than 75 internationally reviewed papers, served as Editor of the Journal of Gas Turbine & Power. He is formerly an Honorary Research Scientist as the U of Michigan. He has also taught part-time at Bradley University (3 years) in the area of Mech. engineering. Interest and capability developing strategies to achieve results. He has a background and has used multiple techniques (game theory...) in strategy creation, competitive positioning etc.
