The application allows scientists to track experiments, provides data mining and collaboration features to increase user productivity. Duties included Java development in all areas of the application (GUI, Web, Web Services, and Database). Several key projects included integration with a .NET based document management and workflow system. Developed a COM based interface to external structure editing tools with JNI (ChemDraw and ISISDraw). Developed an XML based GUI interface language to enable customer developers to customize the application. Developed numerous tools to import and export chemical structure data in Molfile, RXN, SDF, RDF, SKC and CDX formats. Developed a C++ interface to the AutoNom chemical structure naming tool. Used cheminformatics libraries from ChemAxon and CDK. Developed complex SQL queries for use in structure and reaction searching tools. Developed a Web Service to create information for usage in RTF report documents. Involved with product design, requirements, scheduling and defects tracking. Organized and chaired numerous meetings between management, developers and QA from different sites. Worked on Windows, Linux and Macintosh platforms.

The application allows end users and customer administrators to perform network based backups, remote administration, software distribution, software migration and asset management. The application also allows business partners to provide helpdesk based services to customers. Responsibilities included design and development of the web application framework using a MVC model utilizing sturts. Developed functionality to manage users, assets, licenses, network configuration, external storage configuration. Also developed a servlet filter based common authentication enhancement to Tomcat to allow new web applications to be added to the solution. Developed a web based drop down menu system that served as a common navigation mechanism between the applications. XML was used through the application to store shared information between subsystems. Numerous unix and perl scripts where also developed to handle many of the system specific tasks.

Delivered several funding proposals to management. One involved integration with an Oracle system (a stored procedures based prototype was developed). Investigated feasibility, business and technologic aspects for an upgrade from JDK 1.3 to 1.4. Provided technical assistance for the Web Services backbone for a Java to .NET wireless application. Investigated potential enhancements using JSP, JSTL, and Struts. Work included analysis and assessments of customer requirements, design, development and testing. Utilized the following other tools NetBeans, Eclipse, Junit, Rational Robot, Ant and PVCS.

Specific enhancements included utilizing structural similarity between molecules to enhance predictions. Work involved Perl, DBI, HTML, JavaScript, NT, Unix, Oracle, and C.
