My role in the Whisky Supply Planning team touches the entire production cycle of whisky. I assist with the generation of our monthly blend operation programme by compiling the demand and stock data for around 40 different products using reports from SAP and our AS400 based stock system. I allocate stock to operations monthly ensuring the stock meets the blenders make up and advise of any future short falls that may be developing.I provide cover to our monthly load plan and am able to plan transport to bring in the required stock for our monthly cycle of up to 130 tankers and 25 secure trailers in busy month.I have developed and maintain many of the spread sheets used to report on our fillings by owner and wood type filled against plan and other KPIs that are circulated to other departments in the business.Each year I plan the groups new make spirit tankers with third parties (both incoming and outgoing) ensuring that I match the strategic plan as closely as possible, book transport and empty wood for these fillings.In all these activities I have contact with Finance, Operations, Liquid Quality, HMRC Compliance, Strategic Planning, Distillation and Warehousing teams

Working in a UKAS accredited lab analysing all our spirit brands for quality control purposes.I worked on several projects around NIR measurement to determine the colour and maturation of spirit. The project involved generating several hundred data sets and plotted them to create a model for measuring colour.I ran UV-Vis spectrometry on sets of samples of our brands and processed the data to create pass fail authenticator that could detect counterfeit liquid.Operating and maintaining GC instruments was an important part of my role latterly to UKAS ISO17025 standards to detect higher alcohols. Sensory analysis of samples was also part of my role, especially daily new make samples. I was also able to pass vat samples for bottling, checking the spirit quality after it had been filtered.
