As the Urbanist in Residence I help the community participate with intention in the many urban and architectural projects that define its context: Community gardens, building renovations, new streetscape design, community programming and capital vision.

Pilot Projects Foundation Inc. is a Not-for-Profit Corporation dedicated to supporting, managing, funding and implementing innovative charitable projects at the intersection of infrastructure and culture.

I worked with the dean and administration to develop an outstanding curriculum for this new architecture school. Our first cohort was admitted in the fall of 2015. The focus of this innovative curriculum is project-based learning, with research, public service and professional projects at the heart of the program. An emphasis on hand drawing, systems thinking and real life design projects will further set the program apart from regional peer institutions.

The DO School's "Challenge Lab" is an intensive four month hands-on immersion in problem-solving and social entrepreneurship. A select group of DO School Fellows from around the world converge to learn by doing. This year in New York City 18 fellows from 16 different countries take on the challenge of the disposable coffee cup. How can this wasteful habit be transformed into a ritual that does not harm the planet? Results will be implemented and publicly presented in May 2014.
