I'm from Colorado Springs, CO, and I love working in the construction industry! My first full-time job out of high school was in underground utilities and excavation, where I spent almost two years installing the sewer, water, and storm drainage systems for new neighborhoods, schools, and apartments. I loved the satisfaction of seeing our work completed and signed off. I've been chasing that satisfaction ever since!When I came to BYU-Idaho, I eventually realized that I wanted to get that feeling in the construction industry. I changed my major and took jobs in the construction field while getting my degree. I interned twice for HHI Corporation during my college years, and loved every minute of working for them. As I came to the end of my college years, I competed in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Competition in 2023 and 2024 as a scheduler, and then Project Manager in the Project Management category from DPR Construction. I found a great deal of satisfaction and challenge in those competitions, and developed my skills further by creating a scheduling skills workshop to teach my fellow students about scheduling in the industry and preparing them for the competition.I love learning new things about this industry and about the business of creating useful, comfortable, and beautiful buildings for people to enjoy. My life-long goal is to eventually create a business or manage an outreach program with the goal to create affordable housing, create jobs, and improve the economy in impoverished locations around the globe. I want to give other people the opportunities and advantages that I have enjoyed, and continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
