My role extends to providing assistance in development efforts, addressing areas where clients may currently lack experience.

Created next generation of solutions to monitor for malicious domains. Implemented latest lexical similarity techniques including Confusables, JaroWinkler, and NGram. Streamlined and reduced costs to gathering new X509 certificates and newly registered domains.Introduced latest architectural technologies of which Cockroach DB and JetStream Queuing were major underpinnings of the overall solution.Collaborated with a team to develop and implement Kubernetes strategy and deployment. This, along with an implementation of a CI/CD, greatly increased speed of traditional application deployments.Designed an engineering governance catalog that set guard rails in selecting new technology, consistent database modeling/sharing, CI/CD, training, and new hire onboarding.

Worked on initial architecture and helped to hire the team to build the next security analytics platform. Performing a mixture of architecture and development roles leveraging environments such as Helm, Kubernetes, Docker, and various AWS products. Software development languages includes Golang and NodeJS for mainly back-end and some front-end applications.

Worked with a team of skilled developers and architects to evaluate new technology by building components that allow the security business to grow at faster rates to meet our scale requirements.

Dell purchased SecureWorks on 8 Feb 2011.Provided architecture and design for various high profile projects within the SecureWorks organization post Dell acquisition. These projects included:• Developed tools and processes to manage our use of X.509 certificates, in-house and 3rd party• Significantly improved data flow within our monitoring service by selecting and implementing a scalable message queueing technology• Designed a scalable and non-disruptive system to be used by external applications to provide ad-hoc enrichment of incoming data• Moved security event monitoring into AWS supporting Amazon security tools, auto-scaling, and other AWS constructs• Created a multi-master MySQL replication solution and strategies to support our three data centers and Secure Operations Centers.Other projects and processes include:• PKI - Policies, Procedures, and Certificate lifecycle• Data architecture• Export controls• IPv6 strategy• Data warehouse• International expansion

Design and develop architecture to monitor client networks for the entire security lifecycle. This is a continuation of the previous position after the LURHQ/SecureWorks merger in 2006.This merger required that we integrate Development and Quality Assurance teams from the two organizations in order to execute on our plan to integrate the products provided by both organizations. Increased compulsory auditing was a result of the merger which required that we update and refine our SDLC processes and implement new systems to increase our audit tracking abilities of our flagship product known as Sherlock.

LURHQ merged with Secureworks in September 2006.Responsible for the design and implementation of a security network monitoring system that helped drive the company to become the highest rated Managed Security Service provider according to Gartner. The team created a purpose-built system to allow remote monitoring of client network security devices by multiple, dispersed, 24/7 operating centers. The system is scalable, configurable, and performant while handling input from tens of 1000s of client devices while providing an extremely useful web-based portal interface for the client to use for reporting, research, and compliance tracking.Built and hired Development and Quality Assurance teams from the beginning and implemented an SDLC that would follow best practices and support our audit requirements.Due to our large and varied client base, the system implementation and our operating principles are highly audited both internally and compulsorily by third-party agents. This insures that the design follows best practices in many fields such as encryption, network separation, access control, and separation of duties. Encryption export control was also a project for which I was highly involved which meant that I design a process that insures all safeguards are followed with respect to the U.S. Commerce Departments regulations on shipping encryption technology outside of the United States.

Developed a multi-platform backup application, specializing in GUI interfaces and disaster recovery. The system supported 27 operating systems including UNIX(s), WIN32, and Novell as well as a variety of tape drive solutions including SCSI and jukeboxes. I also implemented remote capabilities so that a client host could backup across a TCP network to a server that contained the storage media.

Broadband provided me the opportunity to run my first IT shop. Duties entailed network management, SUN desktop provisioning, and shared resource deployments. Programming was also a large component part of this job. I wrote operational applications including a GUI access to Informix database to implement a helpdesk system.Also developed and implemented training classes for the internal services and systems that our group supported.

Working with a very elite group I had the opportunity to hone my UNIX, Networking, and programming skills on SUN Micros developing various operational applications to manage resources and personnel. I was also very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest sub-contractors from SRI while developing IP transport over packet radios.
