Responsibilities include (but not limited to ;-) ) covering the technical side of sales opportunities worldwide. Includes such activities as initial qualification calls, product demonstrations, (OOB and tailored), POC's, educating customers on how they can gain such an edge (regardless of vertical) by performing analytics on data as soon as it's born. Fantastic role as it affords me the ability to work with all the latest technology, for example Real Time data streaming from virtually any (on-prem or cloud based) source/target (Legacy databases, Network devices, Kafka, JMS, IOT devices, network devices, etc. etc); performing analytics on data, in memory, as it passes through the Striim platform. Performed POC's, remote and onsite as customers come up to speed on the platform capabilities. Got to love the whole Sales gig! Travel, meeting new customers and showing them how amazing this solution really is!

Best stated in my summary above. Being a Product Manager means you are fluent in Techno-speak, Customer Management, Sales Management, debate, and have skin as thick as an elephant. When I interviewed for this job I asked the GM who was hiring what a typical day in the life of a good PM was. His answer was "80% of the company will be pissed at you, but no one will want to kill you". As a PM I find myself in a role of balance, and typically spend the time begging, borrowing, stealing or coercing people to do what needs to be done. It is truly never boring.

Compounding Pharmacy's provide customized prescription medication (can be in a variety of dosage forms, flavors, etc) for People (medical, dental, pain management, etc), and Animals.I am a 50% owner in this; I mention it here because it's bred a deep entrepreneurial sense in me. Assisting in the building of a business from square one has broadened my abilities and focus. It is certainly useful in my day-to-day activities as a PM.

Moved into management, responsible for 10-12 Senior Technical Pre-Sales Engineers. Coordinated schedules, worked with Sales Management to insure right people at the right place, etc. Our group was responsible for 4 major product lines, so managed cross training to insure full product coverage at any time.Our group of SC's were the most sought after group in the company. A very talented team!
