Directed all plant operations including engineering, validation, production and quality. Entire inside of the facility was reconstructed; construction began in December of 2010 and completed December 2011 on schedule and within the $25 million budget. Facility designed for initial scale up for pilot plant batches on Line 1 and an additional 10X scale up onLine 2. All rooms designed for addition of future equipment if any one piece of equipment becomes the bottleneck. Leadership style built a cohesive team that adeptly reacts to changes and overcomes any obstacles in order to keep the plant moving forward, including process development issues during the scale up operations.

Lead 273-person team filling over 200 million aseptic units per year on 10 filling lines, including two aseptic isolator lines; filling vials, syringes, and ampoules of both aseptic and terminally sterilized products, and managing one labeling / packaging line. Filling lines improved an average of 25% (OEE) in 6 months through reorganizing and holding supervisors accountable, increasing batch sizes to decrease lot changes, running lots list to list to prevent changeovers. Added 11 shifts of crews to the filling lines during this same time period due to additional volume of the plant; all crews hired, trained and certified prior to the plant’s timeline commitment to corporate.

Initiated and completed greenbelt projects, saving the plant over $480,000 annually. Setting high standards combined with the greenbelt projects lowered late solutions delivered to filling from 10 percent to less than 1 percent in 2009, for a 99.4% on-time rate. As part of Project Fuel, consolidated personnel from 4 separate Business Units; saving the site over $720,000 per year.

Experienced in start-up operations and expansions – Directed the start-up and development of the Lyophilization Department; including the engineering, purchasing, and installing of 6 Lyophilizers. Received FDA approval on the Lyophilization complex and first lyophilizer with zero observations. Authored Equivalency Document; FDA accepted rationale and granted 30-day approval for the remaining lyophilizers. Led aseptic team in setting up procedures and purchasing equipment for stability lots of the Company’s first proprietary Nanotechnology drug submitted to both the European Union and the FDA. Expanded the aseptic complex: adding 4 new Fill Rooms and new Gowning rooms in accordance with European Union standards.

• As Deputy Test Director for Logistics, I led a 142-person joint service team planning and conducting evaluations of the Special Operation V-22 Osprey, tilt-rotor aircraft (Sep 1990-Feb 2003). Led the joint Air Force and Marine Corp team discovering and documenting 72 aircraft engineering design deficiencies and obtaining the Secretary of Defense approval for correction before production. Selected by General Officer as Operational Test and Evaluation Center’s #1 choice for promotion to Major.• Enhanced team leadership skills and improved customer service – I served as the Officer in Charge, Passenger Services and Chief, Plans and Readiness (June 1995-Aug 1999) leading a 39-person team managing the air passenger terminal supporting movement of 30,000 passengers on 5,800 airlift missions, planned and executed support for 2,000 distinguished visitors, during a $1.8 million facilities upgrade program. Developed improved customer service focus despite a 30 percent reduction in staff; receiving “Highest” customer satisfaction ratings in the Pacific Theater for 4 consecutive months and twice “Best” in command, leading to my selection as the City of Anchorage Federal Employee of the Year for 1997.• As the Executive Officer / Director of Maintenance at Griffiss Air Force Base (May 1991–May 1995) – Personally selected as the Executive Officer to the Support Group Commander, composing the Griffiss AFB Strategic Plan for Base Closure. I led the base preparation for the Air Force Nuclear Surety Inspection that resulted in an “Outstanding” rating and the inspection team lauded as the “Best” seen to date. For these results I chosen by the Inspection team as a Superior Performer. I then led a 273-person team maintaining B-52 aircraft that increased Mission Capable rate to 82.9% and scheduling effectiveness to 92.7%; both the “Highest” ever recorded at Griffiss AFB. Selected over 225 peers as the Base Company Grade Officer of Year.
