Scott Hooper is Co-Founder and President of the Board for Horsemanship for Heroes in Reno, Nevada - a nonprofit organization, providing equine-assisted learning and psychotherapy for veterans, emergency responders and family members suffering from trauma-related conditions. Personally impacted by the power of the human-horse bond, Scott believes this program is life-changing for all who participate (Heroes and volunteers alike).Scott is a retired US Army Colonel who served over twenty-five years as a commissioned Infantry Officer. During that time, he held multiple command, leadership and senior advisory roles across the globe and throughout the Department of Defense. Scott has a passion for service to our nation and to his northern Nevada community. It is all about the people. Helping Heroes Heal and fighting to reduce veteran/emergency responder suicide drive him.His military experience includes four combat tours (Somalia x1, Iraq x3), one peacekeeping operation (Bosnia-Herzegovina), and two tours in the Pentagon (Joint Staff Operations Directorate and as Special Assistant to the 38th Chief of Staff of the Army). His final assignment was Director of Training and Exercises for US Army Europe. In this role, he coordinated and oversaw implementation of US, multinational and NATO exercises, with a keen focus on interoperability with our Allies and Partners. Scott earned his U.S. Army commission and Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the US Military Academy at West Point. He also holds two Masters of Science degrees (in Military Operational Art from the US Air Force Air University in Montgomery, Alabama and in National Security Strategy from the National War College at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.).
